To have just gone ahead and stopped my HRT before surgery?

Grrrrrrr so mad that I just blindly stopped my HRT patches and progesterone tablets weeks before my laparoscopic ablation, as told to do so by my consultant. Subsequent research suggests that transdermal patches have zero increased rate of DVT, so there was literally no reason to suffer weeks of night sweats anxiety and depression. I'm so mad at myself for not questioning and researching this myself ahead of this advice. I'm not sure what the point of this post is, maybe to raise awareness? Question, research and question again all advice spurted out about HRT, particularly when it has such a massive impact on you, because they aren't laying awake worrying about it, that's for sure!

What is the “subsequent research”?

and what makes you think your consultant hasn’t taken years of experience and his own research and expertise in to account? Do you think your own “research” will be more correct than a medical team with years of background knowledge and training?

how do you know you’re advised to come off it because of DVT, and not for some other reason like it makes the ablation more complicated, or there is risk of interaction with other drugs you will need?

if you’d have stayed on it against medical advice likely the surgeon would have cancelled the surgery anyway.

My subsequent research consisted of looking it up in the British Medical Journal, amongst other peer reviewed research and evidence, all of which fairly recent in medical terms. I also know it was because of concerns regarding a DVT because that's what I was told at my appointment.
And yes, he was a man....how could you tell?!!
