I get these every year and from people am still working my way through last Christmas's.

Sheet masks
Solid shampoo
Solid conditioner

I hate the feeling of sheet masks on my face, and find solid shampoo and conditioner almost useless!

Ah I’m with you on this one. I’m mid 30s, I’ve spent a long time figuring out which shampoos and conditioners suit my hair, and which masks are good for my skin! I know people are being kind and I’d accept graciously and be very grateful but it just isn’t something I’d ever get around to using and I’d probably try to give away 🙈

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 20/12/2022 17:25

I wouldn't be very pleased - solid things don't work with my fine, curly hair and I prefer clay-type face masks.

WaddleAway · 20/12/2022 17:25

I quite like sheet masks, never been bought any for Christmas though. Never tried solid shampoo or conditioner so can’t answer that. So a pretty useless response from me 😂

bridgetreilly · 20/12/2022 17:27

Hand/body lotion are the things I get that I never use up. Sometimes they come in packs with other things I do like, which helps a bit.

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/12/2022 17:28

I would be fine with solid shampoo and conditioner. I keep getting shower gels in plastic bottles, handcream and body lotion that bring me out in a rash and, worst of all, candles.

BibblesworthTheThird · 20/12/2022 17:29

No, if I did want to use those things I’d far rather choose my own products specific to my hair type and preferences. I have very temperamental hair and so many products unfortunately make it worse. It be re-gifting these unless the giver knew exactly what I wanted.

Oysterbabe · 20/12/2022 17:29

Nope. I have some of these things stuffed in a drawer somewhere.

HimiJendrix · 20/12/2022 17:30

I'm happy to receive anything to be honest but would probably prefer chocolate if I'm honest. 😁

Always4Brenner · 20/12/2022 17:30

I can’t get my head around solid shampoo etc how on earth does that work? I’d be fed up too getting this every year.

littlegreenheart · 20/12/2022 17:30

I'm 100% with you on the solid shampoo/conditioner. I keep seeing these touted for travel and I would love it if they worked (I recently got stuck in an airport overnight, and my fine, straight, blond hair looked visibly grubby by the time I got home) but they don't for me at all. Sheet masks seem to be popular for stocking stuffers, but grooming stuff in general sounds kind of overly personal to me.

glovepillow22 · 20/12/2022 17:32

These are the kinds of things I keep and donate to raffles 🤣

Newnamefor2021 · 20/12/2022 17:49

I've never used solid shampoo or conditioner, so I'd probably quite like to try it. I like face masks. Although I am pretty much the opposite to what MN does, I love a candle.

Cranarc · 20/12/2022 17:50

I'm fussy about such products and would not enjoy receiving them unless it was a specific product the giver knows for certain I use and like. I am also fussy about scents and dislike scented candles and those room fragrances with canes in.

Twicebakedroastpotatoes · 20/12/2022 17:51

I just find it almost impossible to work up a lather from solid shampoos and conditioners, I have to rub them really really hard to get a lather up. I have long thick hair so it takes me ages to get enough lather to wash it properly.

I do love a candle though, I can't get enough of those.

I don't use a lot of hand and body lotion but have the kind of skin on my face that doesn't mind what is put on it so confess that I often just end up using it as moisturiser!

Dont mind a sheet mask. Never heard of the solid shampoo etc. Im intrigued!!
Personally im sick to death of the Baylis & harding gift set i get every year which i cant stand!🤦‍♀️

Ponderingwindow · 20/12/2022 17:56

No. I have products that I like and use. I have no desire to receive random items that are unlikely to be usable due to irritating ingredients.

JulieMarooley · 20/12/2022 17:57

They’d go straight in the charity shop pile for me. (Not heard of a sheet mask but not interested!)

I like receiving very expensive shower gel or hand soap, but no other toiletries.

Me too! I haven't got time to lie about being slippery while they sink in.

Twicebakedroastpotatoes · 20/12/2022 18:00

Also those plastic puff things with twine handles that come in gift packs with body and hand lotions, does anyone actually use them?

OP posts:
PAFMO · 20/12/2022 18:01

Solid shampoo is rubbish but I'd still be happy to receive a present.

Bath lillies?
Use them all the time instead of sponges.

AllOfThemWitches · 20/12/2022 18:02

People shouldn't bother buying toiletries for others unless they cost a lot more than the recipient would ever spend on themselves. It just screams 'can't be arsed.'

EarthlyNightshade · 20/12/2022 18:07

It took me a long time to find a solid shampoo that I like, but now I use it all the time. So more of that would be ok.
Solid conditioner does not work!
Nice soap and shower gel are fine presents. I wouldn't buy someone a solid version of something unless I was fairly sure they would like a liquid version. Does anyone buy a bottle of (liquid) shampoo as a present?

pinneddownbytabbies · 20/12/2022 18:08

I wouldn't use those, and if I received any as a gift they would rapidly find their way to the bin charity shop.
