Made up word obviously but DS (17) and I
(49) disagree about how it should be classified!

We have agreed that the MN vote will win!

Adjective.

It describes the noun.

'Total knobheadery (adjective) from that bloke (noun) over there.'

Suemademedoit · 20/12/2022 00:23

“What kind of fuckery is this?” was and remains a perfect sentence. A perfect sentence must have a noun. Fuckery = noun. Extrapolating, so is knobheadery.

LonginesPrime · 20/12/2022 00:25

It's a noun.

Adjective.

It describes the noun.

'Total knobheadery (adjective) from that bloke (noun) over there.'

Well articulated, but it's a noun! Same as 'travesty' or 'felony'. It's an adjective when it's used to define a noun.

It would be "he is a knobheadish man", if it was an adjective. Knobheadery is a noun.

In your example knobheadery is what the man is doing, rather than describing him.

Noun. Like chivalry or bravery or jealous...

...or jealousy, even!! Typo!

Abra1t · 20/12/2022 00:41

Noun.

HeddaGarbled · 20/12/2022 00:43

Noun

CitronVert22 · 20/12/2022 00:50

Noun. It is a thing. 'Such knobheadery!'

It's not an adjective because, while yes it describes a person (noun), it uses an object (noun) to do so. In the same way I might call someone a thief or a treasure. Those are nouns too.

CureForLove · 20/12/2022 00:51

Knobheading would be the gerund form...

MerryShitemas · 20/12/2022 00:51

Happy to be proved wrong!

ErrolTheDragon · 20/12/2022 00:56

So you could say 'total knobheadery from that knobheadish knobhead knobheading over there'.

Are there any other forms of this useful word?

You could add an adverb:

'total knobheadery from that knobheadish knobhead knobheadingly knobheading over there'.

ilovesooty · 20/12/2022 01:53

It's an abstract noun.

Morceaux · 20/12/2022 02:02

I’ve only ever seen it used as a noun.

Love it!

Agree with PPs - noun.

Knobheaded. Various parts of speech.

E.G. "Look, it's a lesser knobheaded tit!" (Adjective)
"I've been knobheaded!" (Past participle of the verb "to knobhead").

Also could be used as a fronted adverbial:

"Knobheadingly, he pushed his way to the front of the queue".

Or an intensifying adverb: "That was a knobheadingly fantastic foot rub!"

RosJ · 20/12/2022 02:21

Actually, knobheadishly sounds better as the fronted adverbial.
"Knobheadishly, she showed off about fronted adverbials at 2 a.m."

DahliaBlue · 20/12/2022 02:32

Definitely a noun. It is the state of being a knobhead. Knobheadish might be a suitable deductive.

DahliaBlue · 20/12/2022 03:00

Knobheadish would be a suitable adjective I meant.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 20/12/2022 09:32

Morceaux · 20/12/2022 02:02

I’ve only ever seen it used as a noun.

Really? I've never heard knobheadery before. I've never heard it in any form other than knobhead.

I have been missing out. It is an exceedingly useful noun that I plan on using in the future.

PyongyangKipperbang · 20/12/2022 23:13

Thanks all!

Just got back from work and proudly announced to DS that MN has deemed me right and him wrong.

Of course he isnt wrong, you are all wrong because......he knows he is right.

One my personal favourite sentences is "Fuck! The fucking fucker has fucking fucked the fucking fucker".
