Just been body shamed by a random

Was out watching the football with my aunt's husband who is argentinian, so big day for him as a football fan. Jumped up when Argentina scored and put my arms in the air. I don't shave my armpits because I can't be arsed, no judgement towards those who do. I usually do when in a relationship but in single and embracing my body hair. Random guy told me 'mate you ever heard of a razor that's fucking rank' at which point I just rolled my eyes and didn't engage. He then continued to the bar, spoke to his mates and pointed at me whilst they all giggled. Made me feel so uncomfortable. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but feeling really angry with myself for not saying anything to him. Just here to vent I guess and not sure what I'm expecting, but I just find it infuriating being shamed for hair that grows out of my body without me asking it to! Anyone else experienced similar or was I just unlucky?

Daft little wanktard pay no mind. Bet he struggles with ED a lot of men who bodyshamen women do. Next time just curl your pinky finger and hold it up with a grin

holierthanthou73 · 19/12/2022 18:10

I would’ve said, have you heard of a paper bag , for your ugly face?
but I’ve got a big mouth that often gets me into trouble!

SinnerBoy · 19/12/2022 18:11

Hulke

To be fair it's never happened to me before either. It has probably bothered me more than it should.

He's a tosser, a sad little tosser with a shit life. He's probably gone home to write nasty things on twitter, about famous women. Because he's sorry for himself and it makes him feel less bad.

You, on the other hand, are not!

Topseyt123 · 19/12/2022 18:12

Ask him to show you his perfectly clean shaven armpits (I highly doubt they will be) then tell him they are rank.

Or just totally ignore him anyway.

Mummyratbag · 19/12/2022 18:30

Sorry but the tiny goblin feet comment had me howling... so random

Fireflygal · 19/12/2022 18:35

Feel sorry for your Aunt..how did she react?

Bonheurdupasse · 19/12/2022 18:37

That's shit OP....
Completely a derail but I'm one who doesn't like the look of armpit hair on men - it just sprouts there unlike other hair!
anyone else weird like me?

(Don't care about women as I'm only attracted to men.)

Itisbetter · 19/12/2022 18:37

“Not your mate. Not your armpits.”

Saxiee · 19/12/2022 18:38

He's got armpit hair so I guess he's rank too

harrassedmumto3 · 19/12/2022 18:38

What a wanker.

Goblin feet! 😂

StridTheKiller · 19/12/2022 18:41

"If you think that's hairy you should see me growler, it's like Sherwood forest down there" followed by a quick fanny scratch.

DuncanBiscuits · 18/12/2022 22:21

Great post. It works, too.

(Sorry, but the ‘tiny goblin feet’ line made me laugh. I work with ‘interesting’ teens too, and they notice everything).

Ditto- love the confused questioning technique and the goblin feet quote made me laugh out loud!

momtoboys · 19/12/2022 18:50

What a child that man is. It is so much more a reflection on him than it is on you. Ass.

Couldyounot · 19/12/2022 19:05

Bloke probably doesn't own any underpants without skid marks in them so I really wouldn't give his opinion any further thought

Octo5 · 19/12/2022 19:22

Who tf thinks it’s acceptable to make these comments!

I’ve never gone out of my way to comment negatively on anyones body and I don’t know anyone who would.

I keep thinking of good comebacks but actually you did the right thing by not escalating it, as it’s often what these dickheads want.

Riapia · 19/12/2022 19:23

Random guy told me 'mate you ever heard of a razor that's fucking rank'

Did he, aye.

I was in a pub last weekend and it was so cold we all had coats and scarfs on!! 🤣🤣

I don't bother keeping up with shaving, I do enjoy the feeling of tweezing so I like to grow it quite long then have a good session. If anyone said anything like this to me, it would prove they are an arsehole and nothing else.

Let that hair flow free! I saw someone with coloured pits the other day! I might try that in the summer!!

Sorry, I know this is entirely off topic and I really don’t mean this in any way expect awe at your pain threshold if you are talking about tweezing your armpit hair! I love a good plucking session but thinking of tweezing my pits makes me want to cry 😂

I'm crying 😂😂

Fuck him, OP.

I don’t get this, and now is as good as time to ask as any… but if you’re not ashamed by your looks, why do you care that some rando judged you and commented?

I mean clearly you weren’t hiding the fact that you had hairy armpits. Everyone is judged on their appearance- be it good, bad, or neutral.

This reminds me of the people who go so far out of their way to look different then complain that people stare, they can’t get a job, or people laugh at them or comment.

Either you’re embarrassed by your hairy armpits - in which case you can’t be shocked that someone would comment. Or you’re not and a comment wouldn’t matter.

I think you’ve misread the post.

That’s not how being a human being works, unless you have stone clad self-esteem and self confidence which most people do not. I ‘go out of my way’ as you put it to look different to most people with my hair and clothing choices. I actually do this because I am shy and hugely self conscious. If I have bright green and pink hair and I’m wearing a gothic dress and huge boots if people look at me, I can tell myself they are looking at me because I look different. When I dressed more conservatively with brown hair, if people were looking at me I always thought it was because I was ugly, or fat or gross. In lots of ways looking weird is an armour against attention which I appreciate sounds strange, but that’s how I feel. I also look this way because I like it, I don’t do it for anyone else’s benefit by my own.
so, to answer your question, you can like how you look, but still feel self conscious especially if someone says something horrible.

LadyKenya · 19/12/2022 19:43

Wow, no one would even get the chance to see my armpits, in this cold weather.

KimberleyClark · 19/12/2022 19:50

Another one who can’t believe you had your armpits out in this weather. Pubs can be very draughty what with people coming in and out of the door all the time.

He was a wanker though.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 19/12/2022 19:57

I had my armpits out this weekend too in a pub. It was roasting inside.

No one commented on my armpits though. I'd have just shown them the finger if they had
