Special birthdays

What does everyone else’s family do for milestone birthdays?
when my niece turned 18 and 21 we upped the birthday money from £20 to £50.
Now the boot is on the other foot my offspring are only getting £20 from BIL. BIL drives a new merc has a nice house and is very comfortably off. I feel it’s really mean that my kids are just getting the going rate. It’s a special birthday.
Not to be singling out my in-laws, my own sister also only gave my kids the going rate. Hers are much younger so not got there yet. Should I just give hers the standard amount then when the time comes? She’s also very affluent. I’m the one that can’t afford it! My kids aren’t bothered but I take it personally when people seem to overlook them or (as I feel) shortchange them.

Don’t expect then you won’t be disappointed. People can choose to give whatever they like.

I give DN’s £150 for big birthdays but I don’t expect it for my DC. One sibling gave £200 & one gave £20. DC was grateful for both amounts.
