To be fed up with Harry and Megan in the news

I don’t have any real issue with them, nor love for them.

But I’m sick to death of every bloody newswebsite being full of articles about them. It’s just really boring!!

OP posts:
mnenomic · 15/12/2022 14:38

It's really noticeable. So the main headlines today are about the nurses' first ever strike, the poor boys that died in the frozen lake. We are exactly 10 days from what will be a really hard and thrifty Christmas for almost everyone. Then we have H&M complaining about being bullied and screamed at and whatever else, which just comes across so out of touch in context.

x2boys · 15/12/2022 14:40

You could ignore the news articles ,not read them and you know not start ANOTHER THREAD about them .......

I'm not interested in the Royal Family generally but I work in comms and am finding it interesting to hear Harry & Meghan's account first hand rather than through the prism and agenda of whatever media outlet is reporting on them.

The juxtaposition of how similar stories about Kate and Meghan were reported very differently, the subtle way language is used to infer racial difference - I find it all fascinating as a study in media manipulation.

They can be quite irritating Harry and Meghan but ultimately I think they did the right thing in attempting to tell their story their way. I'd rather hear it directly from them than from 'a source close to the royal family' or 'a royal insider' or any other anonymous coward.

Well if you work in comms then you will already know that 'a source close to' or an 'insider' really means 'a journalist made 99.9% of it up'.

YANBU.

They sued her dad for putting things in the media and then go do the same thing...?

Both are a pair of attention seeking muppets. The sooner the press forgets about them the better.

The press won't forget about them because of posters like the Op and everyone else who reads every bit of need in them just so they can start yet another thread ,and can't see the irony.!

If people keep watching and talking and listening, the shows and books are financially successful, they will keep churning out content until the money stops rollling in. Engagement is what matters - doesn't matter if that engagement is positive or negative. Stats will show total number of comments on their youtube trailer videos - not how many positive and how many negative.

thebellagio · 15/12/2022 14:50

@Mooda i'm almost the opposite. I work in comms as well and to me, the whole programme just seems to be utter propaganda from their part. There's no balance or credibility to any of it, nor is there any understanding of their role in the situation. Harry complaining that his brother hasn't apologised to him - well, has he apologised to W for doubling his and Kates workload and announcing details to the entire world before their transition was finalised?

If there was any sense of balance where Harry could say "we needed out but I admit in hindsight we didn't go the right way about it" I think that all would be forgiven. But it just comes across as I wanted the fun parts of being a royal without having to open car parks in Swindon and how dare you say no to me.

What I really want to see tho, is an impartial interviewer just asking them "what is their end game?" "What do you actually want as an outcome from this?"

Because IMO, they wanted a relief from the pressures of royal life. They wanted to live happily ever after in California with their kids. And they've got that. So why are they insistent on living in the past and banging on about three years ago?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 15/12/2022 14:52

Really we needn’t bother watching the bloody show when news outlets have basically transcribed the whole thing through 3,910 articles.

DeeCeeCherry · 15/12/2022 14:52

The only news I see of H&M is in passing if I glance at Twitter, or on here from the frothers. You've created a post about people you supposedly dont care about, whom will never ever know that you even exist. So now you can while away your hours on thread about H&M that you knew your post would instigate. Easing your obsession for a while at least I guess. Go you.

Addicted2Kale · 15/12/2022 14:54

I'm fed up of seeing Megan get demonised. I'd rather not read about her at all.

jugglerofballs · 15/12/2022 14:55

YABU to start another thread about them, thereby increasing their coverage, and not even putting it in the Royal family topic so I can hide it.

Bestcatmum · 15/12/2022 14:57

It's just endless: wealthy couple expecting sympathy from the rest of the world.
I just want them to shut up and get on with their new lives, why do we want to know every problem in their life.
We've all been through covid, people have lost loved ones and have permanent health problems themselves, now we're all skint and cold.
I don't give a flying fuck about them. I'm 60 and I'm working 6 days a week to make ends meet. I wish they would just shut up and go off and enjoy their new lives and leave us to try and get by in our freezing hovels.

Epli · 15/12/2022 14:59

I think the timing of the whole thing is really bad - we are entering a very difficult winter for many households, and these two create this narrative of fighting for their freedom, like they were escaping from a prison camp in North Korea, not boarding a bloody private jet to California, to live in a mansion which probably they cannot afford given how much they whine about having to pay for their security.

If they really wanted to shine a light on systemic racism or whatever fault they find in Royal Family, they would produce a balanced documentary and put themselves out of the picture, instead of wining for 6 episodes that BIL and SIL did not want to hug them when they met.

CraigDavid · 15/12/2022 15:00

YANBU. I don't want to watch the documentary or read any articles but it's impossible to not hear or read any of the incessant coverage.

So don't watch it or read anything about it then?

Tinkerbyebye · 15/12/2022 15:23

it will all be over this time next week

araiwa · 15/12/2022 15:36

I only ever hear about them on the numerous daily threads on MN

Paq · 15/12/2022 15:41

YABU to start a thread in AIBU. I've hidden the entire royal family board to get away from the nonsense.

araiwa · 15/12/2022 15:36

Exactly this. Outside of MN and some sm, I don’t hear anything about them.

I’ve learned that when such things are focused on by the British media, there’s usually something they’re trying to distract from.

Aprilx · 15/12/2022 15:51

I am finding it tedious, but I am also finding it fairly easy to scroll by. It will die down soon eventually.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 15/12/2022 15:52

They'll go out of fashion at some point OP, then it'll be someone else's turn to hog the limelight.

Brokendaughter · 15/12/2022 16:03

They are boring & whiny as far as I can tell from the endless pity party headlines.

The two of them must have cramp from playing the worlds tiniest violins for year after year.

The more I see of them, the more I despise them.
They have nothing positive to say about anything ever.

catlovingdoctor · 15/12/2022 16:03

Yanbu! Absolutely no interest in these over-privilged and self - absorbed people squabbling.

defi · 15/12/2022 16:05

People love to hate them. It's a gift that keeps on giving
