Anyone else not know how to ‘adult’ properly (NHS app)

Is there a cheat sheet for adulting I just haven’t been given that everyone else got?

DD is on my NHS app but I’ve seen online that as soon as she turns 16 in January I will no longer have access so I’ve ordered her an inhaler so she’s not without while we switch over and I’ve no idea how to do the switch over! Don’t want to clog up phone lines with dreary admin while they are so busy at the minute if it’s something we can do ourselves? I need a handhold through what sounds like should be a very basic grown up task but I’m procrastinating in case it turns out to be a ball ache and I have to be on hold for hours 😬

When she's 16 can't she just sign up herself?
How did you get DD on yours? My GP has said anything to do with DS I have to call

SomethingOriginal2 · 13/12/2022 17:16

Does she not just make her own account like you made yours?

Edwardwilliamnancy · 13/12/2022 17:17

Did this a couple of years ago with dc1 he had to apply in own right. Did it on the app I think he sent pictures of id and it took a few days.
We also did the same and ordered repeat prescriptions before changing over but it turned out to be easier than we thought.

When my son turned 16 he automatically was removed from my app & created his own account. Might be worth making a note of DDs NHS number as she’ll need it to register on the app.

DD2 is 17. She has had the app on her phone for at last a year so that she could show her Covid pass at airports. I don’t remember it being any bother to set up. I have recently started getting her to order her repeat prescriptions via the app. I do stand there while she does it so it doesn’t get forgotten though.

My ds just signed the form for me to still have access

TBH I get a bit annoyed with people complaining that they can't "adult".

You are an adult. You are perfectly capable and have said you are procrastinating.

Just get on and do it and if a problem comes up you try to work it out. Once you've worked it out, you know for next time.

That's the only secret to "adulting".

I don't think it's your fault! Systems can be so bloody complicated and confusing. Anything to do with the NHS or school online systems and I'm immediately going 'waaaah' inside.

Just go to the doctors office or send them an email.

Yes she can get her own app once she’s 16 but I’m sure I had to take a photo of my driving license and wait 24 hours and obviously she doesn’t have a driving license.

asthma nurse just said to talk to reception on our way out about getting her put on mine @RewildingAmbridge purely for repeat prescriptions.

@IDontWantToBeAPie its just so busy (and germ filled) I’d rather not go in 😆 didn’t think of email.

@cherriegarcia i definitely need a kick up the behind but can do anything until her birthday. Should have seen the look of horror on her face when I said she can collect her inhaler from the chemists when I’m at work!

@JamJarJane her school report system just changed too.
