To ask you about how kids parties go

Had a party for my daughter yesterday. First softplay party, for 5th birthday.
I think it went well but I was conscious of getting round chatting to everyone. I have different groups of parents I know eg. some from school, some family, some old friends of mine with kids etc.
DD seemed to love it as did the other children.
I know it's not about me but I'm socially anxious and keep over analysing things I've said. I found it hard having eyes on me sorting the party bags and cake etc. Naturally shy so definitely out of comfort zone.
I've thanked everyone for coming over text today and they've been nice but I'm just worried it didn't go aswell as expected 😅
How are kids parties meant to be (for parents?)

Sounds fine. I think everyone understands that the host is going to be busy and so won't be able to stand around chatting. You are over-thinking it.

Way over thinking. If the kids were happy, the parents will have been!

Summertime16 · 13/12/2022 10:50

the children enjoyed that's the main thing. You've thanked everyone for coming. I bet it was brilliant. I've never analyzed a kids party I've taken my DD too, some have been small, some have been large. As long as the children enjoy then you've done a good job in my eyes.

Oh gosh yes OP don't worry at all - perfectly normal for the birthday child's mum to be zooming around sorting stuff.

sittingonacornflake · 13/12/2022 10:59

I'd never expect the birthday child's parent to talk to me - they're too busy! Other than to offer a coffee.

Greenginghamdress · 13/12/2022 11:20

Thanks, that's put my mind at rest a bit!

Yep. If my kid is running around a soft play having a hoot (bonus that someone else has paid for it) and I’ve got a coffee in my hand then I’m happy! Unfortunately I have a 1 yo so usually have to climb through the soft play myself so no coffee for me
