To postpone TTC due to colleague pregnancy

Apologies for not posting on a conception thread, but I wanted opinions from people that aren't actively trying to get pregnant.. in the hopes that the responses might be more balanced.

DP and I have been TTC baby number 2 for a few months. I've previously fallen pregnant a few times without any 'trying' involved, so it looks like our fertility is starting to decline. We're well into our 30s now.

Colleague has announced her pregnancy today. Absolutely chuffed for her, but now I'm wondering if I should stop TTC until she's closer to her due date? We work in a small team and I know it would be shit for everyone if we were to both be off work at the same time. I suspect I will be expected to cover some of her workload while she's off. We both work part time.

So..

YANBU - Support your colleagues and wait until she's closer to her due date before restarting TTC.

YABU - Keep TTC

It might take you months to conceive and the longer you leave it the harder it will be and the bigger the age gap between the eldest.

I assume she’s around 3 months or more to have announced it at work so even if you got pregnant tomorrow she’d already have at least 3 months maternity leave done before yours is born.
