Insurance help

Mainly posting for traffic.

I took out home insurance last month, but cancelled the policy immediately as I noticed it did not include insurance against theft. I just assumed it did.

now I’m trying to take out a new policy to meet my needs. Do I need to disclose this cancellation? I’ve done so just now but apparently no one will insure me, seems a bit heavy handed if I cancelled the old policy immediately?

Are they not asking if the company cancelled your insurance rather than you doing it?

It's "have you ever had insurance cancelled " not have you ever cancelled insurance

CrochetIsCool · 12/12/2022 17:37

I think you are maybe declaring this wrong. I think it is when an insurance company has cancelled your insurance you need to declare. If in doubt give them a call.

Thank you!!

Usually the question is 'have you had an insurance policy cancelled mid term' etc and they're trying to confirm if you've ever broken the t&cs of a policy to the point a company has terminated your cover.

Most insurances come with a cooling off period where you can cancel at any time and you can't be penalised for that.
I would double check the question OP - good luck!

Maybe I’ve misread it, just don’t want them to not accept any future claim in case of this haha

You haven't had insurance cancelled, you have cancelled insurance.

camdenn · 12/12/2022 17:52

Got it - thank you. What a relief

Yes you've misread it. It's asking about the company refusing or cancelling your insurance not about you cancelling it.

Just a quick question- should I just get the cheapest provider or is there any reason to go for a more expensive provider that offers the same coverage?
