DC went crazy tonight as she thought someone had eaten day 10!!

Think it must be an error. She has ripped off all the card doors.

I want to sort this.

Does anyone know which shop sells this (it was a gift):

Advent calendar issue...

I would be amazed if you could find ANY advent calendar in a shop now. Tomorrow is 12 Dec. I scoured 6 shops on 29 Nov and couldn't get them for my children (bad mum - I forgot to get them earlier in the month). Husband finally found them in a random petrol station on the side of the motorway in his way home the next evening on 30 Nov.

You say that but in my local supermarket two days ago they had stacks & stacks ( some in full unopened boxes) all half price and some just 38p!! cadburys, galaxy , Lindt you name it , I was shocked!

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2022 00:40

Your dd hasn’t opened the doors in advance. I imagine today will be more peaceful and hopefully you can put this behind you. Could you get a pack of wrapped chocolates eg Lindt round balls? It looks as though they would sort of fit in the holes and tell your dd if she is missing anymore, she can take a chocolate instead? Maybe that would take any angst away as there would be an either / or.

Mouldyfoodhelp · 12/12/2022 00:40

Hmm...

BigChesterDraws · 12/12/2022 04:59

Looking at the way the calendar “bulges” (for want of a better word) below the bear’s foot, the missing chocolate is probably trapped inside.

londonrach · 12/12/2022 06:57

The missing chocolate will be at the base of the calendar having slipped down. My DD aged 6 found no chocolate one of the days and thought it fallen to bottom. I slit the bottom of the calendar open and yes she was right . You won't be able to get a replacement calendar after 2 or 3 December as shop would have cleared them out.

She is 22 and may I ask ND?

We do think she has issues (on the spectrum OCD - as shown today with the no. 10 issue) thanks to all who have helped by the way, we are thinking to go to poundland now and get one and make it the same as it is (in her mind) and we will deal with the other issues later - its basically brought everything to a focus.

Seriously don't do that. You can't pander to her unreasonable behaviour unless someone else has eaten it? And even then at age 22 she should realise that these things happen.

MichelleScarn · 12/12/2022 07:34

At 22 what does she do? Work/study? Does she manage general living tasks independently, could she go to the shops on her own to purchase another one on her own?

Anothernamechange1010 · 12/12/2022 07:54

But she's only ripped off the doors up to today?

If she'd torn the whole thing apart (all doors off up to 24th) then I might understand 🤔

As PPs have said, the missing choc will be down in the bottom, but the whole calendar isn't ruined / needing replaced surely...

inappropriateraspberry · 12/12/2022 08:15

The fact that you feel the need to replace an advent calendar for a 22 year old is very strange.
I still don't get what the actual problem is? You haven't explained. Is there a missing chocolate or the doors mis-numbered? Many people tear the doors off as they open them anyway.

wonder113 · 12/12/2022 09:34

Let's give OP a break. We don't know the situation at her home and this is perhaps just a battle not worth fighting. Especially if it can be make good with a quid.

Mred22 · 12/12/2022 23:58

Thank you to all who helped and yes, she works in the care sector, but she has issues as many young people do today.

We found a choco on the floor near the calendar earlier today, but a txt msg was sent and "OK" was the reply.

Chance of an apolgy ? 1 in 100 I guess.
