Sloping drive and snow

We moved into this house just 2 months ago. Our first winter here. Our drive is sloping down towards the road. I’m wondering if our car will roll down the road by morning. It’s snowing a lot here?

It looks pretty still right now, but DH really struggled to park it today !

@MrsMyfanwy certainly wasn't laughing at the time believe me...however I don't think that taking lessons after 20 years of driving and getting car that has just been serviced and mot'd sorted out would have stopped the car sliding on a icy slope...my post was to tell the op that it definitely can happen 🙄

Look up grit bins in your area. There's an app which maps all the local ones.

@dansha your lessons should have covered that though, mine did and that was 40 years ago
No need for the eye roll thanks

Some years ago dd and I were nearly hit by a car that suddenly slid down off the sloped drive it was parked on during a snowstorm. It rolled across thepavement in front of us and hit a wall opposite.
there was a high hedge to the side obscuring it until it crossed the pavement so a second or two later we’d have been run over. Scary stuff and I’m always really cautious walking in bad weather near cars and hills now.

Why would snow mean it needs bricks? It’s already parked, it’s fine. But it might slide when you try to drive off and brake.

Tessasanderson · 12/12/2022 10:48

Of course it wont move. Snow isnt capable of lifting your car up and forming underneath the tyres. Ice maybe but your driveway would have to be soaking wet first for it to be an issue.

Just go to b & q and buy a bag of road salt and cover your driveway. Repeat as and when it needs.

If you parked it before it started snowing, it'll be ok as the tyres are on tarmac.
