WIBU to troll DS with his Christmas stocking?

DS is 12, football mad and has spent the day composing a letter of complaint to the French FA about their players. I've left him to it cos it's good French practice but he's furious.

He asked for an England shirt for Christmas and I noticed while browsing that French football shirts are half price at the moment...

WIBU and a really bad mother to get him the France shirt too and pack his Christmas stocking so that he opens the France shirt first? Just gentle trolling for being so cross over a game of football.

He'll be getting the England shirt either way.

England football T shirts are half price at Sainsbury's. Don't piss him off deliberately at Xmas.

RachelGreep87 · 11/12/2022 18:47

You're sick mate

Hobbitlover · 11/12/2022 19:04

I would buy my son a football shirt if I wanted to piss him off, he hates football🤣, he's 100% a rugby lad.

What a bitch you are.
Bullying any 12 year old is unreasonable, bullying your own child is despicable.

PinkPanther50 · 11/12/2022 19:24

I think that’s excellent parenting and totally something I would do 😂 if you think your son would see the funny side then go for it! Be prepared for the game to be rehashed tho 😄

Justanotherlurker · 11/12/2022 19:29

I'm going to go againts the grain and say do it. Although I know my DS has a good sense of humour and it helps foster it.

In fact I would go one above and make it seem as though he has had a reply to his letter Grin

OMG I seriously didn’t realise there were so many uptight parents who don’t tease their children! The ‘bullying’ word is branded about way too much. People lighten up - you are all raising mini entitled Karens!!

A recent thing on MN is you have to consider all extreme edge cases in every situation. A mum wanting to play a joke on her son is now bullying, meanwhile at school the 12 year old DS will be roundely taken the piss out of in school if it ever got out that he had complained the the French FA, even if it was written in perfect french!

Some posters really need to get a grip.

Waste of money and mean. You’re setting him up to fail. What are you going to do if he pouts and has a tantrum? To punish him wouldn’t be fair since you know how he feels about the loss and would intentionally be riling him up. Pranks are cruel.

Tantrum??. If i knew this would be the reaction I would do it even more as it looks really bad on my parenting...

ReluctantLondoners · 11/12/2022 19:56

Nah, don't do it. I imagine he won't find it funny and may refuse to wear it for ages and it will be an awkward Christmas.

Exactly. A tantrum...at 12. Give over.

Boooooot · 11/12/2022 20:01

I’d totally do this. A lot of mumsnetters don’t k is how to laugh at themselves op and it really shows.

PonyPatter44 · 11/12/2022 20:19

Its called a joke... a kid (or indeed an adult) who couldn't laugh at this would need to get over themselves. Its not cruel or unkind its an extra bloody present, for heaven's sake!

We would definitely do something like this in our house and all find it funny, but then we are not a bunch of sad little wet nellies.

This is way OTT. I think you really need to look up what bullying is.

@PolkaDotMankini having seen your later posts about how he collects football shirts, maybe he’ll take it the way it’s intended. Your first post indicated he was very upset.

You know your son better than any on this thread!
