So, this chap is running all over the place giving interviews to anyone who wants one & saying 'Oops I made an unfortunate mistake'. The cynic in me thinks this is so he becomes so well known all over America that he can say he won't get a fair trial. Aibu here?
Secondly, I want to know where investors money ends up in cases like this? Billions goes in, it goes belly-up, in whos hands is the money now?

The US seems to have very different standards. I think their media can always say whatever they like about anything, therefore the legal system's definition of what constitutes fairness must cope with that. No-one is going to avoid trial completely because of media coverage.

Though no matter how famous a case is, I'm sure you can always find a jury who had no interest in the media coverage and had paid no attention to it. This is easier in the UK where there are more limits on media, but always possible in both.

In summary, I think you're wrong, because there's no chance this would work.

It's going to be really interesting watching it all unravel.

Media exposure is highly segmented ... There are lots of people who will have never heard of him or his apologies, they could serve on jury with blank slate minds. The rest merely have to say that they don't know enough to have an opinion. Half people who ever heard his whining apology won't recall his name, company or supposed crime, so still fairly open-minded.

think I'm in that category. I know roughly he's been accused of presiding over a Ponzi scheme, but I don't know if A) there was a Ponzi scheme B) he should be held responsible under legal rules. His customers who lost billions should have known they were playing with an unregulated financial product, it's not like (eg) crimes against children with pure innocent victims.
