l have Netflix, Prime & Disney but still can't watch old films

It really pisses me off! I pay for all these services but still can't watch old (ish) films without having to 'rent or buy'. I was looking to watch Gremlins today, but I'd have to pay for it on top of my subscriptions. I mean, old films like National Lampoons Xmas Vacation, 80's films that I've watched loads of times when they've been on tv. Is ot just me or is it a rip off?

In Australia.

Have:
Disney
Netflix
Stan
Prime
Binge

Plus the 5 free services
Iview
Sbs
Seven
Nine
Ten plus

Still limited access to classic and old movies.

It's things like: the sequels to parent trap. Yes they were probably shite but we loved them. All the mgm musicals - barely any available across the many platforms. Etc etc.

I could add paramount + and Britbox and have a small increase but not necessarily enough to justify it.

Ended up keeping quite a large selection of dvds when downsizing earlier this year.

That is why I have kept all of my DVDs and still browse the selections at the charity and other secondhand shops. I've lost count of them times I go to rewatch a move on a streaming service and it's not there anymore.

If you've got virgin TiVo, you can set up bookmarks for certain programmes or people. I've got:
Bette Davies
John Mills
Gene Tierney
Jack Hawkins
Claude Rains
Peter Finch
Hitchcock
Etc etc
It's surprising how many old films get recorded this way when I wouldn't otherwise know they were on

give YouTube a try

you will be surprised whats on there

Another vote for Cinema Paradise - I bought a gift subscription for my parents once Lovefilm closed down and they are still paying for it 5 years later! Postal strikes has made it a bit difficult for them to receive deliveries, but I know they still make really good use of it, despite having access to a Netflix account

Search Just Watch to find if films are available for free anywhere. Use a VPN to widen your search to include US streaming services too, Tubi has a lot of old movies for example. Pluto has a different selection in the US compared to the UK.

this is why I am still buying DVDs for anything I want to be able to watch whenever I want. even if something is available on Netflix now it might not be in a year. I have netflix and Amazon but I am not signing up for any more streaming services. had Disney for a bit but cancelled it. DS wanted to watch the whole Jurassic Park saga and I could pay £30 to 'buy" on Amazon but I would rather have the data reliably on a solid item that I own. digital-only products could be removed.
