How to raise bullying at work?

I've just left my job. Partly due to bullying. Never raised it as the bully is highly influential across my area of work, which I'm now doing with another company. Wanted to raise at my exit interview but this was done with my direct line manager who reports directly to the bully. It had come to my attention that others feel the same. I've been burying my head as it has been so awful. I don't want to submit a formal complaint as I'm too scared to. I think senior management would take this really seriously and I have a really strong relationship with them. I'm just so scared. It needs to be done, I need to report it. I just don't know how. Can I do it confidentially? Have you experienced similar? Would you report? In still employed by them for another week and am on annual leave.

You can’t do it confidentially and it actually be actioned or listened to. If a disciplinary process is started for the bully they’d need to be informed about the claims made against them and by who.

You're already leaving, I’m not sure why you think raising it will make any difference, and if you do think that why not do it before leaving and stay?

Hint about the bullying culture on Glassdoor?

Bullying isn't always easy to report. Especially when someone has so much say over promotions, and you know they can literally destroy your career in seconds. She has been insidiously bullying people for years apparently and nobody has reported her. I feel complicit if I don't. I do feel bad it had taken me so long but it isn't always easy. It's very coercive.

You are leaving anyways so I would move on and put all your energies into your new job

Then stand by your comments and report, wanting to do it confidentially not only isn’t really possible to do and get listened to properly, but also goes against what you’ve said here

It would be easy to just move on to another chapter. However, you are moving jobs and likely mostly because of this person if you are honest with yourself. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy but you will get satisfaction and the knowledge that you have done the right thing and stopped someone else suffering like you did. You need to get your ducks in a row- present the facts. Keep emotion out of it. You can ask for another colleague you trust to be present so there is a witness to make sure it’s not buried as maybe your direct report is bullied too. You could say you wish to report something that you were nervous to report at the exit interview. Best of luck.

But you are leaving? If you want something to happen even though you are leaving I don't see how you can do this confidentially?

It sounds like you've already left? If so I don't think you can put in an official complaint as you're no longer an employee?
