AIBU to buyer?

Sold our house and are about to move. The buyer has pushed to move in next week. I'm now panicking as I don't think I have enough time to do everything. Is it unreasonable not to fill in holes from things like shelves and TV mounts? I've filled in holes and touched up paint in the hall and replaced a dodgy window handle but I haven't even finished packing yet.

Ours didn't even pick the dog shit up out the garden!

YABU.

We’ve been in for 2 weeks and must have filled at least 50 holes in walls. Thought this was normal?!

Persipan · 10/12/2022 07:23

You can only do as many things as you can physically do in the time. Do your best to leave the house in the state you'd like to find it yourself, but if you can't do every single small thing, you can't.

Jingleoverthatway · 10/12/2022 07:23

I'm not bothered by things like picture hooks being left but it depends on how big the holes are. When we moved to this house the previous owners obviously struggled to get the TV bracket off the wall and left a great big hole. That was annoying as we had to replaster.

I’d rather you were packed up and out on time. Our first house the people didn’t have anything packed at completion time and it cost a fortune in paying our removal company to unload, store and reload it.

VladmirsPoutine · 10/12/2022 07:49

That you've replaced a dodgy window handle shows you've gone above and beyond. Just pack, honestly it must be so stressful don't worry about some holes or peeling here and there. Try and get organised for the move so you pack in a semi-structured way!

Tbh. I do actually love the amount of holes they left in the walls. I had loads of stuff to hang so it was useful. Dog shit .. not so much 😂

inappropriateraspberry · 10/12/2022 07:51

I wouldn't be bothered about holes in walls - as long as it is left empty and clean and you're out in time I'd be happy.
I don't think most people fill holes etc,

mondaytosunday · 10/12/2022 07:58

You just have to leave it clean. I've certainly never filled in holes (though did you exclude shelves from the fixture and fittings)?
If I'd damaged something just before moving I'd repair it though (like if movers had broken a light fitting).
I also suggest getting a packing service (they will pack everything though, even your rubbish if you leave it out).

JRHartley72 · 10/12/2022 08:08

Don't worry about holes and just focus on getting packed. We turned up on moving day to find the sellers had removed some shelves from the kitchen wall that had taken down a chunk plaster with it. We just shrugged and filled the gap – we were planning to redecorate anyway. No one expects to move into a house and find it immaculate unless it's a new build.

LumpyandBumps · 10/12/2022 08:35

I wouldn’t be too worried about holes. Even if you filled them it’s unlikely you will have time to redecorate, so it won’t look perfect anyway.
If you are really worried you could mention to the buyer that the reduced timeframe means that you won’t be able to do cosmetic work. I would be very surprised if their reply was anything other than it doesn’t matter, and them getting in early is more important to them.

harrassedmumto3 · 10/12/2022 08:39

You sound really considerate OP, and I'm sure you'll leave it in the best condition you possibly can. I'd rather it was clean than absolutely perfect!
