To think you should put the plug in when you bath?

i have a lodger who seems to have a
bath with the plug out but the water running constantly like a kind of shower but in the bath.

this goes on for ages.

it seems like a massive waste of water and energy to me but maybe i
should just see it like some kind of shower.

yabu - it is just like a shower
yanbu - it wastes a lot more water than either a shower or a bath.

If you have a classic British water system with a hot and cold tank, then when you stop filling the ‘hot tank’ topped up with cold water and had to reheat

if you fill a bit hot/warm bath then want to top up your hot tank whilst still relaxing you may refill with luke warm / cold water

Whereas if you leave the hot tap slowly running it doesn’t refill the balance and just gives a steady hot top up

Are you sure the plug fits it properly?

There’s no way she can be splashing about if she’s not got the plug in, as it will empty as fast as it fills.

She could be topping the water up.

I’ve recently moved and the bath plug is slightly too small so the bath empties even when I put the plug in.
I’ve never had a bath before so it took me longer than most to realise that the water was going down whilst I was using it.

Do you have a smart meter? To be honest, I wouldn't let her have a bath if you have a shower. It's just so expensive. I wouldn't have to have two showers either!

Tell her the rent is having to go up due to increasing energy costs and her high water consumption.

If there are jugs or buckets and sloshing im guessing bucket baths. They use less water though.

I've done similar when I've filled the bath up too cold and got in and then pulled the plug and topped it up with hot water. Washed whilst it was emptying so as not to waste that water and then enjoyed the hot water with a book. That's only when I've done it by accident though not habitual.

Is she not just letting water out and then adding more hot water if the waters got cold? I do that. Or are the taps definitely running the entire bath?
