oh I do too. Mine doesn't want clothes (although that's what he needs) - he thinks they're really boring!

He has all he wants - a playstation and a gaming PC - so I don't have a clue.

Sorry no help, but I'm watching the thread for tips....

Star Wars socks

Reese's pieces

Board game - we've just bought Cards against Disney for our teens

A feature mug

To be honest I’ve found him hard to buy for for a few years now, he still has some Christmas presents from a couple of years ago with cellophane unopened (one in particular was a 3d jigsaw model of his favourite football club’s stadium). He won’t read anymore so books are a no. It makes it stressful 🙈

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 09/12/2022 11:47

Make a hamper of junk food? Mine loves it when I do a themed box.

American snacks/drinks and things like ramen noodles
Portable charger
Stationery
Aftershave (a selection of samples went down well last year)
Designer underwear
Gift card for places they go regularly (DS likes Costa and Vue)

I'm finding my 14yo super easy to buy for. He wants clothes/trainers so really easy.

If it's any help mine is having trainers, joggers, x box game, football, sports socks, smellies, PJs, dressing gown, snood, screen protector, chocolate, cake mix, pens. I have shoved a football book in too which he probably won't read.

Wombatbum · 09/12/2022 11:50

food ideas are good thank you, seeing as he is a human dustbin!

If he's asked for clothes are you getting him those and then a fun thing on top?

waterwitch · 09/12/2022 11:59

Promises?
mine would want things like a lift to where ever he wants to ride his bike, or he can choose what meal is prepared, or your time spent playing his choice of games (cos mine finds it hugely amusing that I’m so bad!), Basically, things you know he’d like you to do, but you can’t possibly do all the time!

Your kid or someone else's?
If yours, ask specifically. If not yours, give cash.

MyBoatOrYours · 09/12/2022 12:07

An IOU promise to spend £££ on pizza and soft drinks and crisps for him and his friends if he wants to have them over. Xbox vouchers, a new extra controller/ high tech headset/ gaming chair? An IOU to take him to a sports shop and choose fancy new trainers. An indo board, new decent sunglasses, new headphones, a new bag for school, new aftershave, an experience day or session eg a voucher for him and a friend to go and try rock climbing at a local centre.

Wombatbum · 09/12/2022 12:10

My son - I am getting him clothes but want to get other things as well

Also Starbucks cards are very popular at that age (or whatever the go-to chain bear his high school).

Those giant hot chocolates with mates get expensive.
