It’s paper isn’t it?

If like to do something traditional like that but a bit stumped, especially with it being so close to Christmas I don’t want to spend too much!

what did you buy/receive for your first anniversary?

We received a framed print of the lyrics to our first dance song.

DH and I don't tend to do that sort of gift to each other though as some years would end up being things we didn't really want just for the sake of tradition.

DappledThings · 09/12/2022 09:20

Tickets. Printed out the etickets to the National Dog Show so they were on paper and went to that.

BedTaker · 09/12/2022 09:20

Nothing, I don't really understand anniversary gifts, we have enough stuff flying around our house as it is!

RampantIvy · 09/12/2022 09:20

DH and I agreed that we wouldn't get stressed about gift giving on anniversaries, so we go out for a meal instead. It makes life so much easier.

ThreeblackCats · 09/12/2022 09:23

I bet you can find a book or a print.

I bought my husband a framed print that says “You can’t blame gravity for falling in love”

Boooooot · 09/12/2022 09:24

I don’t think we will do tradition every year, just for our first one it would be nice. Going out for a meal would be ideal but we can’t get a babysitter unfortunately!

A card. Not done anything for the next 12 either neither has my sister or parents for theirs. We might get a take away that's it. No stress it's great x

Hobbesmanc · 09/12/2022 09:25

Paper. So what about tickets or vouchers. Nice meal. Theatre

SometimesMaybe · 09/12/2022 09:28

Tickets for a comedy show. Think it’s been one of the easier years to be honest!

MRSDoos · 09/12/2022 09:30

I joked that I’d get my husband divorce papers on our first year anniversary which is in April lol

I think tickets are a good idea, I like the other idea that someone else has mentioned about frames first dance lyrics!

Boooooot · 09/12/2022 09:33

We didn’t have a first dance haha!

Hmm will put my thinking hat on. Thankyou for the suggestions.

I bought DH a new TV so he could watch his favourite sport...I spent the day in hospital with my terminally ill father.

OoooohMatron · 09/12/2022 09:41

I bought a really nice hardcover book for DH and wrote a message inside.

PenCreed · 09/12/2022 09:41

I honestly can't remember what I bought DH, but he got me a little box with rolls of paper telling me reasons he loved me. It was probably from Not on the High Street, as it's fancy paper!

professionalnomad · 09/12/2022 12:12

He drew me an amazing picture which I have framed and put up on the wall

LabradorVibe · 09/12/2022 12:17

I received a first edition of one of my absolute favourite books.

I gave my husband a vinyl player, as I was completely oblivious to the tradition of themed gifts...

AuntieMarys · 09/12/2022 12:25

A really good caricature of us

Strokethefurrywall · 09/12/2022 12:32

DH bought me a large beautiful canvas of a tropical beach close to us. It still hangs in our stairwell.

Thehop · 09/12/2022 12:33

I got my husband a print of the stars/sky above the venue at the time we had our first dance

PaulRobinsonsSeventhWife · 09/12/2022 12:35

Drawing of where we got married

CuppaWhiteTea · 09/12/2022 13:15

My husband made me some paper flowers, and I wrote him a poem, had it typed and gave it to him in a frame.

TheMagicPudding · 09/12/2022 13:18

My husband isn't into trinkety/ keepsake things like song lyrics etc so I went outside the box and bought him paper aeroplane cufflinks which are practical and also a nod to the 'paper' aspect! He liked them :)

ThatWardrobe · 09/12/2022 13:19

Gig tickets here too

PeopleAreTheWorst · 09/12/2022 14:10

Dh and I bought each other the same thing unknowingly!
It was a paper book that you wrote on each year on your wedding anniversary.

LadyShrek2k19 · 09/12/2022 14:12

We have a £5 budget and HAVE to buy traditional...

1st anniversary I made very NSFW scratch cards for him and he wrote me a love letter (very unlike him thing to do).
