We've had the dreaded 'Strep A in school' letter.

6 days left until end of term and mine's riddled with a cold.

Can't help but think swerving the last week of typical primary end-of-term nonsense of plays and fetes and assemblies is a better option than risking it.

Or AIBU?

My DD is absolutely loving it. Most people appreciate your efforts to try and make it a fun time to remember, a very small proportion are just miserable.

I at no point have said I don't appreciate staff efforts.

My child is not 'miserable' for not enjoying eg singing carols, many boys don't, and I'm not 'miserable' for thinking that 2 weeks of this could maybe be honed into one week and a bit more learning happen!

Hardly wanting staff tarred & feathered, is it?

you sound a bit of an idiot. Worries me that a secondary school teacher would be sexist.

also you’re worried about lack of learning but keeping your child off in case they get ill?

Sexist? For suggesting it's not unusual for boys to not be enthralled with carol singing?! Nice attempt at throwing us off in a random & utterly pointless direction but NO!

As for 'learning' - as I said, not much of it going on next week & I'm more than capable of doing something more rigorous at home, not that I stated I'd be keeping them off anyway. This is just, you know, discussion!

Yes, we break up earlier than most (but then go back earlier, obviously).

I guess Xmas will kick in for yours next week
