To not send DS to school

DH complained that I let our DS (year 8) stay at home again today. He's been off since Monday, unwell since Saturday evening – because he's got a horrible, frequent, hacking cough (and feels a little poorly/tired, is off his food, and has had some headaches over this period too). But mostly because of the cough.

DH's reasoning is, "when I was younger we always went into school or the office with a cold or cough."

I personally think it's a) pretty selfish to do that on this occasion, b) will be extremely annoying for classmates/teachers alike, when DS is at times barely breaking from coughing, c) though not that relevant (I don't think?), today there have also been some cases of scarlet fever reported at school, and d) think DH needs to learn to use his voice and tell/discuss with me these things at some point OTHER than at two o'clock in the afternoon. i.e. in the morning before school if he's that bothered!

Mine was off Monday and Tuesday with a cough/cold, he was ok but next week is their carol service, panto trip and school play so I wanted to reduce any spread

I'd keep him off...ds was ill about three weeks ago with a similar sounding illness. He was wiped out and had a week off school.

It is everywhere at the moment. I am recovering from a chest infection and did an assembly this week with the most coughing I have heard for a long time all in my direction!! I had to remind the children of the cough into elbows rule as they have forgotten it!
