I wouldn't blame him, but as you say your face.

I guess it depends if it's you paying, his money or a joint account.

interstatelovesong · 07/12/2022 18:34

Your face your choice

I hate when men try and dictate what their wives do with their own bodies and faces

I'm a microblading and PMU artist and once had lady book to get her brows done and she was so excited. But then she rang and cancelled a few days later as her "husband had said no" It was fine she cancelled as that's her prerogative but I really wanted to tell her her husband must be a right Cunt and to tell him to fuck off. But I remained professional

Itsoktogiveup · 07/12/2022 18:40

Ok, your face your choice blah blah, but if my husband wanted to have a tattoo all over his face, or even grow a beard, it would be his face but I’d have some strong opinions about it.

You’re going to get much much less attractive as you age, we all do. The only things that truly help you look better are regular exercise, and make up.

If you wanna spend family money on cosmetic surgery that your husband thinks is dumb then he’s entitled to his opinion and I agree with him.

VladmirsPoutine · 07/12/2022 19:04

What way is he saying it? In a "you're perfect just as you are" sort of way or "I am the boss of you and I said no" sort of way. Is he paying? I think your face your choice but I don't think it's unreasonable for partners to have an opinion on these sort of things.

MrsFinkelstein · 07/12/2022 19:15

It's absolutely your decision.
I had upper bleph done in May this year and its one of the best things I've ever done. Zero regrets, just wish I'd had it done years ago.

My husband wasn't keen either, but I just said how much it would mean to me.

I've always had hooded eyes which were never an issue, but the past 10-15yrs the loose skin on my upper eyelid became more and more pronounced, I could "see" it when I looked up. I would put eyeshadow on and you'd never be able to tell as the upper skin hung over so much. My mascara would end up just under my eyebrows! It's genetic with me as my mum is the same, it's almost affecting her vision now.

I looked permanently tired. It was just demoralising.

It's made so much difference! I still look like me, but just not tired looking. I still think I look my age, just "fresher". It's incredibly subtle. Hardly anyone has noticed so its really not an obvious surgery. I'm enjoying trying different make up looks and actually being able to see it now!

My husband agrees its been great and that I still look the same just a but more "awake" lol.

Just do your research on your surgeon, mines wasn't the cheapest but is very skilled and does really fabulous "subtle work".

I'd love to have it done

How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking ? 😳

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/12/2022 21:42

And why is that important?

polopolopolopoo · 07/12/2022 21:43

@MrsFinkelstein sounds just like my eyes and I've wanted to do this for a while. If you're London or near would you mind recommending your surgeon?

NV42 · 22/02/2023 12:09

@MrsFinkelstein I would also be very keen to know who was your surgeon as I have the same problem as you (hooded eyes) but they are much worse now that I am 46. I have decided to have the surgery done this year.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 22/02/2023 12:13

A blepharoplasty is probably one of the cosmetic procedures that I would have done. Can have such a transformative effect on a person's face without making them look in any way tight or weird.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 22/02/2023 12:15

In your case, OP, what are his reasons? He doesn't want you tinkering with your face? Doesn't want you spending family money?

I just had it ten days ago and I'm delighted. My husband had it done ten years ago.

I know around 6 people who have had it and love the results.

Londonjellybean · 06/05/2024 12:41

Be very careful who you choose as your surgeon. I had it done almost 10 weeks ago and am absolutely horrified at the results. To the point that I'm now booked later this year for reconstruction surgery in the US. My surgeon, (in London) I got to after watching him on an Insta Live with my dermatologist. He's an oculoplastic surgeon and seemed to have all the right credentials. When I met him I liked him.
However, he was WAY WAY WAY more aggressive in removing skin than we discussed. The scars aren't 'hidden in the crease'--they are so high that they're extremely obvious. They're also both different heights and different arc-shaped, so my eyes are now different shapes too. To get some relief, even 10 weeks on, when sitting at my desk I pull down on my brow because it's so tights.

To say this was the worst decision of my life is an understatement---though I'm sure with another surgeon I would have been very happy. Turns out, my surgeon has negative reviews of him removed from Google, and the only way to write a review on Doctify is via a link from the doctor (which obviously I'm not getting) so the reviews are extremely skewed.

This man butchered me into something unrecognisable.

I'm really sorry to hear you had a horrible experience! You wouldn't expect that from an Oculoplastic would you? You must have been really shocked. Have you found someone who will help you with a revision? And do you mind giving me the name of the doctor as I'm currently researching and don't want to make a mistake. Thanks
