Anyone else feel fatigued?!

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed themselves feeling more tired and lethargic than usual this winter?

Don’t suffer from SAD or anything but feel unusually tired, leaden and unmotivated. Wondering if it has to do with keeping the heating down/off and feeling cold a lot if the time (usually have it on all winter, at the moment just using an electric heater in one room but still seem to feel chilly a lot).

Anyone else noticed similar?!

I'm struggling badly. It started with having covid 3 weeks ago and feel something else brewing now.
I would nap every day if I could.

There are plenty of medical reasons why you might be feeling exhausted. Have you had your thyroid checked? How old are you? Iron levels? Vit D?

My tiredness was caused by breast cancer, but that's fairly unusual thankfully. (And sorted now, I hope).

I think there’s lots of illnesses flying around. I feel I’m constantly fighting something off. Tiring. Plus the dark mornings make me want to hibernate. Then all the Christmas stress.

Yes, ihave acough that won't go, I'm tired from coughing, I have a headache from coughing. I need a week by the sea, I need warmer air. The sea in Malagasy for example.

Glad to hear you are recovered and feeling better!

I am on prescription iron tablets for mild anaemia (picked up in summer but just started on the tablets in the last couple of months, taking one a day rather than two as they cause stomach issues!) and (sorry if TMI) had an incredibly heavy period last week, needing to double up with tampons and night pads and change every couple of hours! So am wondering if that might also be something to do with it.

Take vitamin supplements but perhaps also worth getting further checks if it continues. Funny as I spent most of my 20s happily hungover but now can’t bear not feeling energetic. Late 30s!

Sorry to hear you had COVID, hope you are feeling better soon and over the worst of it!

Naps = heaven

Although can never seem to manage one nowadays!

I feel a million times better since I started taking Spatone daily, I used to suffer from terrible feelings of tiredness due to a combination of things but now, even after only a 4-5 hour sleep I can cope most days.

ichundich · 07/12/2022 14:14

I was extremely tired for a about a month recently. Struggled to stay awake past 9 p.m. It's got better now, so I'm wondering if it was a bug. Hope you'll feel better soon.

SlashBeef · 07/12/2022 14:14

I'm recently post covid so it's not helping but yes I'm so low in energy. I go to bed when my kids do and feel like I could sleep for days.

Wimbledonwonder · 07/12/2022 14:16

My dear, I am exhausted.
Try a good vitamin D compounds tablet. I’m sure it’s given me a lift.

MintJulia · 07/12/2022 14:20

Agree with PPs, perhaps take a vitamin supplement while we're in winter to make up for any shortfalls.

But if you are still noticeably tired by New Year, when you've had a few days off, please get it checked. It's probably just covid-hangover but don't assume.

BeyondTheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 07/12/2022 14:45

My youngest DS (10) is like this, a vague slight headache every so often and some wobbliness in his knees, but mainly just exhausted. Nothing major to flag it - no temps or rashes etc, but generally just feeling a bit shit.

I assume it's some bug or post-viral thing. In olden days I'd get a normal non-emergency appt to see a dr, but it doesn't feel concerning enough to waste one atm.

OldTinHat · 07/12/2022 14:49

Me! I am so, so tired! No appetite, no energy. I also wondered if its because I'm cold in the house with no heating on.

CoffeeAndCosyReads · 07/12/2022 15:14

I'm in the same boat. I feel utterly exhausted and always cold at the moment, with or without the heating on. My sleep pattern is now terrible but I too have been having heavier periods recently so i suspect, in my case its that, it's mainly to do with that and haven't sought medical advice yet.

It's annoying though because it's now a vicious cycle and when I finally feel like there's some improvement, AF makes an appearance 🤦‍♀️

MistletoeMouse · 07/12/2022 15:19

I have Covid at the moment and am none crushingly tired.

I already have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Chronic fatigue, so it's a double delight. I had a vitamin D deficiency last winter and folate anaemia, so I'd agree what others are saying wrt Vit D supplements.

Wineiscooling · 07/12/2022 15:23

I went to Dr recently as I feel so tired all the time. I had every blood test known and there’s nothing wrong, all completely normal ! Which is obviously good news but why am I so flipping tired ? I’m putting it down to my age, I’m 46 and I guess reduced energy is all part and parcel of middle age. It’s frustrating though, I was running marathons a few years ago and now I have to have an afternoon snooze to recover from walking the dog 😂
