AIBU To not have an air fryer

Everyone I know has one and swears by them. I don’t know if I’d use it that much tbh. I have a family of 4 and cook most things from scratch.
If I got one, I wouldn’t even know where to start. Any ideas?

I use ours a lot, we have the dual pressure cooker/air fryer one which i wasnt keen on at first as it has two lids one for each function.

However as theres two of us and we'd rarely fill up the oven, it has been really good and I'd say its about 60% scratch cook 40% beige/reheating stuff.

A lot of the people who rave about them DO have more than one though, and thats something most people don't mention up front when they're wanging on about how fab they are.

How fab are they - they're a smaller convection oven that costs less to run and cooks faster because it is smaller. Thats all. You can fit a fair bit in the bigger ones, but you do need to learn how to convert cooking times/temps, or work it out for each thing so there is a learning curve.

I am planning on ditching our oven if i EVER get this kitchen sorted (awaiting an adapted kitchen done on a DFG but theres a really strong chance ill be dead before it happens, teh architect told me september he'd be back to me with all the plans... still waiting).. and if I do that we may get a second airfryer for hte days we want to cook more stuff in one go.

They are great for cooking (from scratch) lots of different foods.
They're not just for oven chips and chicken nuggets🙄
I've been using mine more and more recently because it a) heats up in no time
b) cooks more quickly than my oven and c) uses much less power to do so.
No brainer really.

YABU for starting yet another thread on air fryers. I wish Mumnset would start and air fryers section and everyone could bore each other about their countertop convection ovens over there.

Are you being unreasonable for not buying something you don't want or need?
😕

I've got one, had it for years. I only really use it for chips or if I'm throwing freezer food in there for the dc.
I had it as a present, wouldn't have bought it, could live without it, it's a bulky fucker too.
