To want to throw the advent calendars in the bin?

I want to preface this with - I am not actually going to throw my child's advent calendars away. But my god are they grating my cheese.

Does anyone else find advent calendars incredibly irritating? My 3yo has 3 this year (toy one from us, chocolate one and book one from grandparents).

All day long the asking about them, can she open another window? is it the next day yet? Today she was up at 4am asking to open them!! I thought the novelty would wear off by now but we're 1 week in and it's still all day long.

Is this obsession normal? Please tell me they grow out of this!

Three is too many! It's sensory overload. My kids are 11 now and still stupidly excited about them but they know the boundaries. December is a long haul!

One is enough, you should also ensure your 3 year old has benefits from not asking all the time. You need to be firm and if asking means not opening, stick to this 100%.

Definitely agree that 3 is too many, unfortunately we didn't know the other 2 were coming and were given straight to her and didn't want to rain on her parade.

Glad to hear that other kids are just as obsessed by a tiny bite of chocolate and a bit of plastic tat!

We share one advent calendar for four children. Each take turns, in the evening. Been that way since eldest was small

3 seems like a lot.

I will never ever buy that elf. I don't know why people fell for that marketing ploy!

Everything about Christmas is a marketing ploy. My kids adore the elf though.

my cat is the worst in our house and cries sitting at the door of the cupboard its hidden in (after he attempted to open it himself) till he gets his daily treat.

Yeah I bought a cat calendar last year for my 15-year old cat. Never again, I say.
