To consider keeping DS off nursery - Strep A

So I’ve just woken up to an email stating one case of GAS, one case of Scarlett Fever and one case of impetigo at DS’s nursery. I think this is just me having a panic, and I will send him in. I work while he is in nursery - with young children. I don’t want to pass anything on there either. I think I can only stay alert to any symptoms. Next week - I’m off work, so maybe I’ll keep him off too. So AIBU to consider keeping DS off?

Apparently there's different schools of thought on why strep a is increasing, some people think it's because of COVID weakening Immunity.

@Dittosaw hang on I dont think any are going from fine to dead in 24 hours? Thought mostly delays in giving ABs or missed diagnosis ?

Youngest pre school had 6 out of 21 kids in today all poorly

Primary age child is poorly with scarlet fever. There's 9 kids in today out of 30 in their class.

I kept youngest off

I'd keep them off. It's a personal decision though. It's my understanding that the invasive is not a more severe type of virus but rather just the way the illness has progressed in that child.

I'd carry on at nursery.

The media have blown this out of proportion
