To park my car here?

I live on a semi busy road and have a drive for one car. Opposite my house there is no double yellow lines and 8/10 times I can park there. Next to our house is a path that leads to the back of our house and a cul de sac.

I parked my car at the back of my house close as possible to my wall/end of my garden. Not blocking a single car, no where near anyone else’s house. Iv parked there twice since getting my first car 3 weeks ago.

a resident came out of her house to shout at me and tell me she’s ringing the police/council because she’s sick of people (there are never cars parked there - I can see from our kitchen window) parking there. She asked me if my car was mine (no I stole it 🙃) and that I’m not allowed to park there again. this was the first time I parked there.

i went to park there a few days later and she had parked her second car there so I couldn’t park. I ended up parking down a non lit dirt road a few mins away. 🙄

Aibu to park there a few times a month?

So you are parked on a path not a road??? Then no you can’t park there.

I don't think she's parking on a path, I assume she means she's driving into a cul de sac that's at the back of her house to park there, and there's a path she can walk down to get to her house.

I take your batshit neighbour and raise you... We all have to pay for parking permits in our street. Once parked a bit further along our St. Neighbour came out demanding a park elsewhere as I was blocking her light. Initially didn't believe I lived in the street! She parks in front of her ndn (obviously she is a mole)..
I locked my car and she hid under a table taking photos of us - me and 4 x dc) I told her to get off the floor and I would be reporting her for being a weirdo taking pics of my young dc.

People of mn - she owns A CAR PARK NEXT DOOR TO HER HOUSE...
Keeps it permanently locked.
And empty always.

That’s what I thought initially but the latest diagram shows a line for the edge of the road and the car parked on the other side of it, so she’s drawn the car as if it’s parked on a path and not the road itself. Then again OP does say she isn’t much of an artist!

It would be helpful if she could actually clarify if she’s on the road or not though - that makes all the difference!

Probably the most irritating thread I've come across for a while.

OP your street sounds similar to mine. Assuming less a path around the back but actually a lane allowing rear access to our garages and driveways though. I often park outside my back gate/ garage and provided cars can easily pass my car I don't see the issue. Sounds like she wanted to keep her little parking space to herself.

Now that is definitely batshit.

Your first diagram was incomprehensible.

Your second doesn’t indicate the key points of your thread.

You haven’t made it clear if you’re parking on a pathway , or using a pathway that connects your houses AFTER parking.

I mean put more simply…

… what do you want from this thread @Indoorvoicesbluey ?

PineappleWilson · 06/12/2022 13:38

Can you put a note on her car saying that you'll call the police if she persists in parking there as "the community" is clamping down on such illegal parking.

I agree that you can't park, but I'm flabbergasted that her "solution" to you doing so was to park there herself. Batshit!

@Indoorvoicesbluey

Can you come back and answer some questions?

Do you park on a pavement or a road?

Are you driving down a road, rather than a path?

Is it a private or public road?

Are there any signs that the parking facilities are for use only by a particular group of people?

Are you causing an obstruction? (Your car looks to be parked too close to a junction)
