To ask for antibs

So I had strep theoat in March, they didn't test for it but went by symtoms and after antibiotics it was gone within 48 hours of taking them

I'm pregnant and have exactly the same symptoms, since yesterday, I don't fancy waiting four more days before I contact them like last time as I can't even take ibuprofen or use lozenges and Im pregnant .

My uvula is so swollen again it's making breathing more difficult

Wibu to ring first thing and be really forceful about getting antibiotics? This will only be the second time as an adult I would have them, just twice in one year! I'm only concerned because I'm pregnant

YANBU, i would do exactly the same thing. Get well soon

YANBU
I hope you feel better soon

Ring your GP yes by all means, but 'being forceful' about it is not something I would recommend. You are not a health expert, your GP is. Respect their advice and I hope you get well soon.

Agree with @concernedalot . They are the hcp you aren't. You can demand all you like they can refuse if not appropriate. You can ask to be seen and ask for them to do a swab.

Well drs ran out of appointments whilst I was waiting in the telephone queue. Tried 111 who says go to gp but I can't so 🤷‍♀️

What about your pharmacy? There's a scheme called Pharmacy First or something where the pharmacist that works in the chemists can prescribe antibs and also access your medical history and info etc. Not sure if they prescribe for strep throat but worth an ask?

So you tell 111 that you've tried and the GP had no appts and ask them to make you an appt at the nearest walk in centre or minor injuries.

Ahhhh sorry yes I forgot they are so cautious when pregnant. Hope you get sorted soon. Nothing worse than feeling down and ill when you're pregnant 💐
