Leaving a job thay I don’t hate, ok boss, just want a change?

I applied for a job, got it and now I need to tell company.

It’s not been plain sailing at the current job, and I don’t know if I’m just over reacting by leaving.

wont be too specific but I feel like I’ve learnt enough and sometimes I don’t like the gossipy environment…. Which I do a lot of

so new job, 16% pay rise… new company.

AIBU for leaving?

Why would you be being unreasonable

This is honestly up there with one of the strangest threads I’ve seen for a long time on here

almost as bad as ‘AIBU for not setting my house on fire’ or ‘AIBU for not cutting my foot off’

ISeeTheLight · 04/12/2022 21:32

Of course not. It's a business agreement. If you want a change just go. A 16% payrise alone is reason enough. So is being fed up with the gossip. Or just fancying a change.
I've changed employers on average once every 2 years or so and it's been amazing for my career.

I've just done this after 9 years at my job

Been in new job a month and nobody can understand why as the money is the same. I just knew it would be the job for me

Not many people are happy for me!

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 04/12/2022 21:38

I left retail management as 1/ it has now been squeezed to minimal staff. It's a constant rush rush rush environment and 2/ I had heard rumours of roles going/redundancy

I can't imagine myself being there until retirement

So in my early 50's I changed career!

VladmirsPoutine · 04/12/2022 21:44

With change like this there's always some degree of anxiety but I can't see that you would be unreasonable. You can leave a job (all else being equal) for pretty much whatever reason you like. I once left a job because I genuinely hated interacting with the public despite knowing it would be a huge element of the role.

Considering you’ve given next to no detail in your post I’m not sure what you’re looking to get out of this thread.

16% less piss yellow, though.

Sorry, OP but you are asking a stupid question. You never have to provide a reason for changing jobs - just wanting a change is enough. Who do you think you have to justify yourself to?

Don’t know. I’m just finding this a hard decision to make.
