AIBU to keep DC out of nursery...

... Nursery has cases of scarlet fever and strep throat.

Both my DC had a really heavy cold plus croup about 3 weeks ago and are still fighting off the cough at night and snotty noses.

AIBU to keep them out of nursery until either they are 100% and/or the cases at nursery fall?

Always keep your child off when sick, if you can. Not fair to risk the nursery staff or other children getting it. Specific strep concerns aren’t any higher than they would be on previous years, it’s been around decades and will be around decades more

You might as well OP.

What's making you doubt yourself?

If you can then I would, I'm extra cautious with everything going about atm I don't want DD being ill over Christmas if I can help it so if there's anything going about the nursery she'll be off in the run up. Luckily I work evenings though so that's not an issue I know it's not possible for a lot of parents.

Don't risk it

If I could without the risk of loosing my job then I would.

Honestly, even without cases at our nursery I'd love to be able to take them out. My daughter has a week immune system and my GP surgery takes 2-3 days to get seen. I'm dreading what may happen case wise over the next few weeks.

Not unreasonable, of course keep them home if you can (I.e. not going to be an issue with work), attendance isn't mandatory at nursery. I'm keeping my ds off nursery at the moment because scabies is going round and I really don't want the hassle of treating that so want to avoid it.

I guess I've always just been the type that says you go to school/nursery/work unless you're physically unable to leave your bed or are contagious.

Just wondering if I'm perhaps being way over protective, or maybe I'm just very lucky to be in a position that I can pull them out (SAHP)

My plan was to return DC to nursery at the end of this week as its when their Christmas activities start and I was hoping the cases would have fallen.

Just been informed of three more cases.

Now I've got two DC desperate to return to nursery and be part of their concerts and shows but my gut is telling me to keep them well away.

One DC is still struggling with a post croup cough.
