And not know my notice period as I’ve mislaid my contact

I hate the job - it’s the most negative workplace I’ve ever ever worked in

Its a school just for info!

Would my notice period be a week if I’m in my first 3 months and on probation?

Ive seen another job done up for a different role in a smaller school and need to get out so want to apply but not sure on my notice period

I’m not sure you’re going to get the job at the other school if you’ve left after half a term in this school.

can you afford to leave without a job to go to?

Regularsizedrudy · 03/12/2022 12:32

Ask for a copy of your contract or just ask what the notice period is

Brefugee · 03/12/2022 12:32

be more organised with your contracts in future.

Write that you are resigning according to the terms in your contract and that they should let you know, having deducted any accrued vacation, what day will be your last?

or just resign as of X date (what you think is right) accrding to the terms of your contract, and see if they change it?

ThrallsWife · 03/12/2022 12:33

Your HR manager should have a copy of your contract on file - ask them?

I lasted one term in a school! Never again.

I wanted to leave after the first week but needed another job to go to so had to find and apply for. Other wise I would have been out the door.

It was the most toxic, nasty environment I’ve ever set foot in so I feel your pain!

In our school it would depend on the job. Teachers have to give a half terms notice, so you couldn't resign until Christmas to leave Feb half term.

Support staff, ie TAs and Office staff, have to give a months notice.

if you're still on probation, you can leave at any time, although they're unlikely to be happy if you leave them in the lurch.

TBH, I'd apply for the other one before you say anything to your current school, although be aware, most schools have the habit of taking up references before interview.

ILoveeCakes · 03/12/2022 13:13

If you've managed to lose your contract after only 6 weeks, then maybe you should leave

IHATEmyjob000 · 03/12/2022 15:38

Ive had a house move last week so by mislaid I mean I can’t find it currently

I have been a TA for over 10 years and left for a school office position as the hours were longer and pay was better but I hate it - I would be going back to be a TA so hopefully the new school will understand it isn’t necessarily the school environment I dislike, just this school! Plus the bitchy office environment that I’m shocked at!!
