To be annoyed with Call the Midwife

I've been rewatching from the start and of all the things to be annoyed about it’s Dr Turner writing left handed 🤣

Clearly as I know nothing about medicine or midwifery they could be showing all sorts that’s wrong and I’d have no clue but this is bugging me.

I think it’s time for a cuppa!

@BlueThursday my older brother is a similar age to Dr Turner and is left handed and nobody tried to force him to be right handed. I on the other hand was 60s born and had trouble at school. Depended on the school. My sister is older still and left handed and again no forcing her to be right handed.

So there are no left handed people above a certain age OP?

How ridiculous,I went to school in the 1950’s,nobody tried to make me be right handed.Never known anyone it happened to.

I think the thread shows a varied experience so my eyes have been opened to some people being accepted as left handed and some not

My gran was born in 1904 and she was a leftie her whole life. Smacked on the knuckles at school to try and make her write right handed but she refused.

I'm left handed and I was born in 1982 and I remember them trying to make me write with my right hand in primary school. I didn't though. I've learned to use most right handed things but still write left handed.

I have to say, I'm absolutely flabbergasted to find out there were teachers still trying to force children to write with their right hand in the 80s and 90s. My children were born in the early 90s and I was under the impression that kind of thinking had long gone by the time they were at school.

Yes, it seemed to be a thing of the past in the 1970s when I started school.

As I said, I had this with one of mine in the 00’s. The teacher was retirement age to be fair but she gave it a red hot crack. Needless to say they wrote/writes left handed🤣.
