£15 at 19.30 so likely to hit a few more pounds by midnight. we had the hearing on 16deg for a few hours this morning & an hour this afternoon, hot water enough for 1 small child bath & cooked pasta on the hob & two working people on screens and one load of laundry.

I have had a fire on all day (thanks to logs we had in garden) and dried my washing in front of it.

I dread to think the cost when it gets any colder!

what’s your smart reading? Hubby thinks im
getting obsessed and should unplug it!

Gas (to 12 noon) £2.11, central heating at 18°. Turned it up this evening so will see where it ends up.
Electric (to 18:30) £1.20, dehumidifier on full tilt since noon.
1 bed flat, haven't used my hob or gas oven yet today.

Lovemusic33 · 01/12/2022 19:40

Around £4.50 for electric and £4.50 for gas. We have been home more today, dd has a day off college, usually heating would be off all day until 5pm ish.

Which dehumidifier have you got ? It's sounds decent on the electric.

www.airconcentre.co.uk/products/devola-20l-compressor-dehumidifier-with-hepa-filter-dv20l is the one I'm using. I think you might get a discount with DEV10 code (not sure it'll work though).

It was on for 23 hours yesterday and my spend all electric for the day was £3.07.

I'm expecting to use it a lot less once my flat gets less humid.

NewBootsAndRanty · 01/12/2022 19:52

^ its a 378w machine, if that's helpful re costing.

Nanalisa60 · 01/12/2022 20:03

Gas £8 went on at 10 am at 16 went up to 18 at 5pm, just gone off and 8pm I’m off to bed to watch TV. Electric £4 .

really helpful, thank you. It's unavailable at the moment.... dehumidifiers are clearly the new air fryers! I'll keep checking back on the site.

BettyOBarley · 01/12/2022 20:29

Around £3 on electric and same on gas.
That's 2 loads of washing, dishwasher, TV on since after school and cooking dinner on hob/air fryer. I WFH too but that doesn't use much elec and I dont put heating on.
Heating for 30 mins this morning then thermostat set to 17 between 3.30-8.30.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 01/12/2022 20:30

£8.46. Large 3 bed Victorian terrace. WFH. But I don’t have the heating on in the day, only for 30 minutes in the morning and when the kids come home from school

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 20:36

8.30pm - gas and electricity combined - £3.80.

Two of us in a 2 bed flat. Shower each this morning, tea and toast for breakfast, heating on for an hour. We were both out all day and since I got home at 7pm I had the dehumidifier on, the heating on, cooked a risotto and watched some TV.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/12/2022 20:44

£3.82 - combined gas/electric.
No heating on, we’re only heating the sitting room with oil lamp. 3 showers between us (me, DD and DH). Telly has been on since 5pm.
Dinner was a slow cooker bung everything in stew (chicken thighs, veg etc) served with microwave rice.

Wineiscooling · 01/12/2022 20:45

8.40pm - gas and electric combined - £11.
heating went on at about 4pm. No washing today but dishwasher went on and tea cooked on hob with oven for chips. 2 showers. Otherwise usual tellys on, 2 adults working from home, 2 teenagers using screens / computer after school. We’re quite a bit in credit from summer and have budgeted that we can use 20 pounds a day through December and January. We’re trying to not put heating on in the day though which is hard when working from home. I’m trying to not get too obsessed with smart meter!

nildesparandum · 01/12/2022 20:58

£7.02. Medium size Edwardian terrace three bedrooms. Two us myself and DS
turned up the heating one hour ago from 18 to 20 as was freezing
Done two loads of washing used air fryer for 30 minutes microwave only on for three minutes.Kettle used four times.Hot water on for 2 hours this morning 1 hour tonight.

AriettyHomily · 01/12/2022 20:59

£1.56 I can't figure out if is broken or our our old fix

IncessantNameChanger · 01/12/2022 21:02

£15? Ouch! We are £7.50 as had to do tumble drying. I'm.trying to not go over £10 so I might have the heating on more one day, but then I won't use the washing machine or the drier.

Dd has noticed I'm wearing the same clothes for days on end now. Just feel like need some control as even £10 a day will be a struggle to pay.

I normally line dry but the last two weeks it's time to admit defeat.

KatherineofGaunt · 01/12/2022 21:08

Electric around £3.50, gas around £2.50.

3-bed 50s semi, two adults and one preschooler. One adult wfh today, preschooler at nursery. Heating on to 18.5 degrees between 6am-8am and about 6pm-11pm, not sure about day.

Gas hob used, plus usual shower/kettle/TV/ computer usage.

£6 is our average daily spend at the moment.

DollyDoofer · 01/12/2022 21:08

£11.48 at the moment. That’s because I’ve had two not very well GC today. The heating has been on plus I’ve had to do 3 washes of clothes and blankets covered in sick! 🤮 As well as having to suffer Blippi on YouTube all day 🫣 plus the usual cooking for the rest of the family. Add baths/showers for everyone.

im staying in bed tomorrow! To compensate 😣

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 21:11

Actuallyntell a lie, I am.clearly going blind. It's £2.80 not £3.80.

Thought it looked a bit much!

We are averaging aboit £4.10 a day of we WFH and about £3 if we are only at home in the early morning and evening.

FridayNightIsWineNight · 01/12/2022 21:11

Just over £10 at 8.30 but we've been out for most of the day. Heating only on for a couple of hours. Slow cooked meal. One load of washing and tumble dried.
We're a large 4 bed detached house.

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 21:15

Crikey, the cost of heating some of these larger properties is horrifying.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 01/12/2022 21:17

My was in total for gas and electric £2.20 when I got home.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/12/2022 21:19

£11. £6 something electric and £4 something on gas.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 01/12/2022 21:19

Sorry meant to add. Three people in the house. Two at work all day and the heating only goes on in the evening as in the morning it is a fairly warm house.

HuntingoftheSnark · 01/12/2022 21:23

£1.65 electric, 36p gas. I haven't put the heating on yet - house was built in 1737 and sash windows mean the heat goes straight out. It's cold but I drink a lot of tea.

Ciri · 01/12/2022 21:24

Too much. I have covid and I’m freezing. Heating has been on all day..
