To boast about my son?

It's more of a message that I think is important to put out.

Yesterday I was in the car with my (just turned) four year old and had a seizure for the first time along with some other issues.

I felt unwell and the next thing I remember is hearing DS screaming and the police and paramedics trying to get into my car.

He used my phone to call 999 and directed them to where we were. He told them mummy was shaking, not talking and my eyes had gone white.

Yes, I am obviously incredibly proud of him but I also think this is such an important message.

He saved my life and he wouldn't have known what to do if I hadn't had taught him. So please, if you haven't already, teach your kids what to do in an emergency.Flowers

What a fantastic little boy - hope you are feeling better now OP

Zanatdy · 01/12/2022 20:29

At 4 that’s pretty amazing, you’ve every right to be extremely proud of him. Extra pressie off Santa under that tree I’m sure

Characterbuilding · 01/12/2022 20:32

Every right to be boasting, praising and bursting with pride.
Well done little one!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 (Also hope you get to the bottom of things health wise).

ggbbnn1 · 01/12/2022 20:35

Amazing!! Well done. I put pictures next to names in my phone book when I was pregnant as my partner worked nightshift, so my youngest who couldn't read yet could identify the names and call people if an emergency came up. Thankfully was never needed but she knew what to do even before she could read!

WhoHasMovedMyBrain · 01/12/2022 20:37

That's absolutely amazing. I hope you are ok now. I'll tell DC what to dial in case of emergency.

Ijustdontknowanything · 01/12/2022 20:38

I told my 4 year old to face time his nana if something happened to me. I thought he would need a babysitter if I died!

VestaTilley · 01/12/2022 20:41

What a great boy! Hope he’s getting a present at the weekend! I do hope you recover soon too; you must be very shaken.

CloudyYellow · 01/12/2022 20:45

Beyond impressed with this. Amazing.

Twospaniels · 01/12/2022 20:49

That’s really impressive. A big well done to your son.

I hope you are better now and no doubt are having tests etc to find out what caused such a frightening episode

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 01/12/2022 20:52

What a wonderful little boy. You must be so proud of him. Hope you are receiving the help you need and recovering Flowers

MarmiteCoriander · 01/12/2022 20:57

I hope you are ok OP, but what about your son? Yes, he did an amazing job, but he is only 4!!!

That is an enormous burden and worry for a 4yr old! What other support do you have- other than a toddler? Support dog to notify of coming fit? Press alarm to notify another adult/emergency services of a coming fit? Do
you get auras so YOU can alert someone? Have you spoken to your neurology team/nurse/specialist about supports to help?

Are you sure DS isn't worried about 'when will mummy go funny and start shaking again???' 😨

AliceMcK · 01/12/2022 20:57

Well done to both OP and your son. You for teaching him and him for being a brave boy and doing exactly what he was taught.

My nephew was in the papers back in the 90s for doing the same for his grandma when he was 4, she was diabetic, he knew which buttons to press on the phone and give his address, that’s all he needed to do when he couldn’t wake her up. It’s so important to teach children from a young age how to call for help.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 01/12/2022 20:58

That’s amazing OP - boast away!!!
My 5yo would probably stare, shrug and go back to picking his nose 😂
Hope you’re feeling better Flowers

Blimey! Calm down!
It was the OP's first seizure!

MarmiteCoriander · 01/12/2022 21:15

Apologies OP- and (@ihatesoaps ) I completely missed that this was your 1st seizure! Your son did an amazing job.

declutteringmymind · 01/12/2022 21:41

Awww. What a superstar! Hope you're feeling better and getting all the support you need.

Fairislefandango · 01/12/2022 21:44

Amazing! Well done both of you!

Dweetfidilove · 01/12/2022 21:49

Amazing boy you have!
