Going in at 11 son started abx yesterday evening has had two doses
He is very tired and sore

He's never had a cold sore and I don't know wtf this is

Not impetigo it's SF he has the rash all over just had a review
He is doing ok just miserable
stats good etc
He is so sad the poor thing my heart is breaking for my baby

It is an absolutely grim illness, we have been through it three times.

DC3 hasn't had it yet and I'm dreading it.

Not everyone needs it gets AB'a but I'm in experience my kids really perked up 48 hours after that.
Our AB's were 14 days long as well which I'd not experienced before.

What does his tongue look like? Is it strawberry like? Red (not pink) with little white spots?

nicky2512 · 29/11/2022 11:20

Poor baby. He’ll be fine but expect a rough few days. My ds had Scarlett fever at 4 (many years ago). All the other kids at playgroup were over it very quickly but mine was very unwell for a few weeks. He got over it completely but it took a while and he was very tired and run down for a while.
Hope he gets over it quickly. Take care.

What a beautiful child, I hope he gets better soon x

A child did die of scarlet fever recently but that is incredibly rare. It is devastatingly sad but it is not a reason to panic everyone, especially the OP!

In most cases scarlet fever is very easily dealt with by antibiotics. We've had it in our house several times (I don't believe it's rare to have it twice? Two of my DC and I have had it twice and neither of the GPs we saw were the slightest bit surprised).

OP, I hope your little boy is better soon - our GP would ask us to send in photos of something like that and then follow up in person/on the phone.

StollenAway · 29/11/2022 11:50

Sorry just saw you will have already seen the GP by now. I hope all is well Flowers

My daughter had this a few months ago. Her mouth looked exactly the same and she kept picking it, her nose was also scabby and sore from it constantly running. She had white spot in her mouth, rash which was mainly on her face but patches over her body and slept a lot. Two weeks after the first symptoms she got peeling skin on her hands and feet. Took about 3-4 weeks to completely go. Hopefully it doesn't take your little one as long, poor thing.

How is he doing now OP? My DD has gone to bed tonight with what I suspect is the start of SF…. Although not confirmed yet and there is a chance it is just some other nasty school bug! Waiting to see what tomorrow brings!
