We didn't get the Cost of Living payment because we had ended tax credits and had started a UC claim...

....in those exact weeks we need to have been entitled to benefits.

That was those exact 5 weeks, tax credit ended and UC claim had begun so it looked like we were claiming nothing.

Worse still, there was a mistake with our first September UC so it said we were entitled to 0 due to a childcare input error (my error!).

I've been messaging and calling ever since and it's still not fixed.

I have tried to go the government website with regards to not getting the payment but all I can do is fill in a form and it gives no box to explain the issue.

my son didn't get the £150 those on DLA should receive either.

ive looked and looked and there's no phone number.

We are so so desperate for money. Can anyone help, please?

UC are being painfully painfully unhelpful. I've lost count how many times I have written on my journal and called them.

Would the DLA claim be separate to the UC claim or part of it? If you didn’t meet the criteria you didn’t meet the criteria unfortunately. Have you looked to see if there are any other hardship funds available to try and close the gap at all? Good luck. I’m sure you’re not the only ones in this position.

Try contacting your MP and ask them to contact the DWP on you behalf.

The DLA payment is separate to the UC payment, so it's odd that you didn't get that.

Unfortunately, your Tax credits claim will have finished the moment you applied for UC. The qualifying criteria for the COL payment was having an assessment period that ended during the qualifying period. So if your tax credits ended before the qualifying period and your assessment ended after that period, you won't be eligible.

The £150 for DLA should have gone straight into the bank account the payment usually paid into. I would double check that account and go through it all to double check.

You could try CAB or if there’s a charity linked to your son’s disability that you can contact (I used to work for Macmillan and WW took on casework for things like this). Or maybe Turn2Us, they are a great charity who help with benefits etc.

We - not WW (no idea where that came from!)

Thank you, that's what I will do next.
