To ask you to talk to me about Dysons

I have wanted a Dyson for a long time. The one I wanted was V15 animal but it’s £££

There are some cyber Monday deals out there but not on the V15

Both the omni glide and the V10 have over £100 off but omni glide nearly £100 cheaper than V10.

is it worth it? I hoover or sweep daily as we have a dog that brings in lots of mess from the garden. He doesn’t shed so dog hair not an issue, we don’t have carpet all hard floors. It’s a lot to spend on a hoover…

I hate my Dyson. It's rubbish. It's been replaced by Dyson twice and guy who collected it said had a van full of dysons that didn't work. This third one sort of works but honestly compared to Henry it's rubbish. I have to keep it as it was a gift from mother in law when DH and I got married. My mum already got rid of her Dyson and replaced it with elec something and they alot happier with it.

Henuinequest · 28/11/2022 08:14

We’ve had Dysons. They break easily and don’t last in general. Have finally convince DW to stop buying them… they work well until they don’t.

bellaronaldo · 28/11/2022 08:19

Buy a robot hoover, especially with hard floors. We bloody love ours- comes out every day and picks up an insane amount, no idea how. Do it!

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 28/11/2022 08:26

Another ex-Dyson owner now in the Shark camp.

Also, if you have hard floors and are sweeping every day, get a Roomba (robot cleaner). I had one in my old house and it was fab.

gogohmm · 28/11/2022 08:30

Just don't, mine lost power after 2 years then stopped working after 3 years, no customer service

biscuitbadger · 28/11/2022 08:30

We have a cordless Dyson.

I do like it - it does pretty well on all our floors in normal circumstances. However it won't pick up larger bits, it clogs easily and is a pain to empty.

We have a Henry too, which we use if there has been any messy DIY as it can deal with anything! But the Dyson has a stronger suction for carpets.

When the Dyson breaks I'd look at other options, I'm not totally sold on it.

Greydogs123 · 28/11/2022 08:31

Cordless Dyson is shit because the battery dies within six months! I bought one to have upstairs as we have a henry which is great, but too heavy to lug up and down all the time. Within 6 months it just stopped working, no matter how charged up it was. Looked up on the internet and it’s a common problem, there was a bit of a hack where you took some bit apart and back together and that got it working again, but I can never use it on full power now. When it fully dies I’ll buy a shark because they always seem to be recommended instead!

MumBusy · 28/11/2022 08:37

Not worth the money at all. Suction is terrible.

miceonabranch · 28/11/2022 08:52

Dysons are very poor. The first models were okay, but they're just flimsy rubbish now. They lose suction very quickly and the batteries on the handheld ones don't last and need replacing. I'd never have another one. Waste of money.

WotsitsQuavers · 28/11/2022 08:53

Miele for me.

ladyofshertonabbas · 28/11/2022 08:53

Another vote for shark.

TheFunnyOne · 28/11/2022 08:54

Be careful you don’t do what I did and accidentally buy one with a button you have to keep your finger on rather than a normal button 😢 Other than that I like it. It charges up well in the cupboard.

Endlesssummer2022 · 28/11/2022 06:46

Stayed at a friends for a few days recently and used their Dyson….spend your money elsewhere. It was a pretty poor vacuum cleaner. The company appear to have spent more on marketing than engineering.

Exactly this. Total marketing hype of these products.

Amazing how well Dyson has made money from highly mediocre 'inventions'.

Jarstastic · 28/11/2022 11:26

wed fallen out of love with our Dyson cordless which we do clean filters on etc but then had it serviced. They came to the house. They put a new motor on it (which we had to pay for but a lot cheaper than a new Dyson)We are now happy with it! We had not realised it was underperforming. We signed up for a service plan so will get a service once a year and all parts are included, so covered for a new battery etc. But also any problems they will come around and fix.

SpinningFloppa · 28/11/2022 11:28

I hate my dyson, always wanted one after having Henry for years but I hate it; poor suction, always blocked, I haven’t used it in weeks now and will be buying a Henry again!

Heronwatcher · 28/11/2022 11:28

My dyson was terrible. So glad to see the back of it. I liked the fact it was cordless but it cost a fortune to service/ repair and didn’t pick up most stuff. I now have a Henry which is brilliant- my ultimate luxury would be to get another for upstairs!

GimmeSleep · 28/11/2022 11:29

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 28/11/2022 07:07

Surrey. That is so kind

Ah a bit far from me 😔

EndlessRain · 28/11/2022 11:29

We have a V10. I like it a lot, it's very convenient, but it is temperamental. It doesn't clean the whole house without needing a charge and it gets blocked very easily.

Frabbits · 28/11/2022 11:32

Most vacumn cleaners don't work all that effectively on hard floors for things like hair.

Dysons are completely overpriced for what they are too, for the cost I would definately get a decent robot cleaner as that will both be better at cleaning up hair and requires no effort on your part.

Dysonworker · 28/11/2022 11:36

Name changed for this for obvious reasons!

I used to work for Dyson and a large part of my job was comparing technical features of Dysons against their competitors. Sharks are far better. And cheaper!

Also James Dyson is a twat who treats his employees like shit and I would not want to give money to him 😂

Go for a shark!

I am fascinated to read this. I have NEVER taken such a dislike to an individual after reading a few chapters of their autobiography as James Dyson. He really wants to have his cake and eat it: 'captain of industry' in the UK who actually maximises production in developing countries, 'engineer/designer' using everyone else's brains and expertise to produce mediocre items, 'intellectual property crusader' who goes after anyone making similar products. He came over as an arrogant twat who has lucked his way into success off the backs of many other people.

xogossipgirlxo · 28/11/2022 12:04

I have V11 and really like it, but I think I would like any cordless vacuum, as I used to hate carrying vacuum downstairs, going back upstairs, change the sockets etc. We don't have any carpets, so it works for the whole house on one battery. My friend has V10, and she was vacuuming under beds and pole got some smashes on it 😶
