To think that the Twiglet recipe has changed?

So, I have always loved Twiglets. However, in recent years I'm convinced they taste totally different. They are no longer as 'Marmitey' or solid (if you know what I mean?)

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Twiglets just aren't what they once were?

YABU = No, they taste just as they always have.

YANBU = They definitely taste different and the recipe MUST have changed!

Twiglets went downhill when they stopped doing the long ones in a box

The bags was what we tried and found them to be disgusting

Noooooooooo.
They have been my only hope.

I'm so glad you have reminded me of this before I finalise my food shop. I've not enjoyed them for years. You can't suck the flavour off them anymore. They just turn to dust in your mouth and they all taste burnt and so bitter. So disappointed. I loved them.

Jojokoala · 19/12/2022 23:19

Absolutely gutted about this, I found an unopened packet in the cupboard from last Christmas about a week ago! Ate the lot before realising I may have been sitting on one of the last packs with the old recipe...

astarsheis · 19/12/2022 23:34

I've not managed to finish my last multi-pack and couldn't work out why.
Just didn't enjoy them...now I can see why.

lollipoprainbow · 19/12/2022 23:40

Used to love a tub of them at Christmas now I avoid them like the plague !

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 19/12/2022 23:47

I had some recently, having not eaten them for probably 20 yrs (don't like marmite, but occasionally think I want it and then realise I don't at all!) but DP bought them for a party and I picked a couple up to try.

I thought they were burnt - they were just bitter. They had black patches and I genuinely thought they'd been singed. Amazed they've intentionally made them taste like that!

openupmyeagereyes · 22/12/2022 16:11

I had no idea about this. Just popped a Christmas tub and am hugely disappointed!

Itchintobestitchin · 22/12/2022 16:21

Just opened my tub after reading this and they taste burnt. Even worse, once I sucked all the burnt taste off they don't taste of much at all. Gutted.

openupmyeagereyes · 22/12/2022 16:25

Just so bland with less salt!

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/12/2022 16:29

I do still like them, and was aggrieved that I can't seem to find them anywhere for Christmas in recent weeks.

Prior to the apparent unavailability I had a tub of mini twiglets at home and a multipack of bags and they did taste different to one another. The proper full size ones in the mini bags were far better but I am prepared to accept that it's because they're fresher and the tub doesn't seem to keep well once opened.

Piggywaspushed · 22/12/2022 16:33

Yup. They taste bitter and nasty now. And they make wee smell...

Ocrumbs · 22/12/2022 16:44

They are vile but cheesy footballs are worse

FriedEggChocolate · 22/12/2022 16:50

DS and I noticed this. It's less umami than before, so there's less bite to the taste.

They're nowhere near as good now.
