Gas leak next door - worried

Builders went through a gas pipe next door while home with 10 month and 2 year old. I could smell gas strong with the kids in the house for 15 mins before we could all get out and get fresh air.

My baby has been asleep in pram since we left house. Next door has turned off gas supply now so going to return shortly. Is smelling gas itself dangerous for littles ones. I'm a bit upset and worried not sure if I should get the checked out. Clueless about this stuff

I would get yourselves checked tbh
15mins is a long time

Lilabelle22 · 24/11/2022 17:26

I’d say better safe than sorry. Give 111 a call. They may want you to get o2 levels checked.

@Lilabelle22 how are you now?

Lilabelle22 · 26/11/2022 20:10

@bestbefore thanks for checking in. Gas engineer let us back in when gas reading under floorboard was 0.1

He said the smell isn't indicitive of potency so kids should be fine as we got out relatively quick and it wasn't ongoing as gas capped off pretty quickly after leak started. Didn't get them checked over as they showed no symptoms and gas engineer said it would of dispersed in the air once it reach us but the smell would remain strong

The pipe next door is getting replaced Monday but anxious something else is going to go wrong and I'll be home alone with the 2 babies but fingers crossed it won't 😬
