Hi, I have been really wanting to up my grooming game and be more glamorous but I find even though I have all the gear I have no idea what to do each day. I was wondering if you could share what you do to look together. Thanks Smile

I use cleaning oil it and follow it up with a cream cleanser, weleda skin food at night and I’ve been using a fab moisturiser the the day it’s simple one with spf in it it’s makes your skin so bright

Pretty minimal. I use a tea tree foam cleanser and a decent moisturizer with an SPF of 30. I also use a hand and body cream. And that's it. I'm late 40s, look my age, skin good enough, cba to do more to be honest.

Just keep doing what you’re doing if you’re happy I’ve used this stuff for years and it’s just what suits me. My friend just used water her skin is like silk

I too feel less is better. I use a cream cleanser at night, followed by a simple moisturiser. In the morning I use a moisturiser with SPF.

Gummibär · 24/11/2022 21:15

Op, what 'gear' do you have??

Nancienoo · 24/11/2022 21:17

expensive lotions and potions make my skin bad

Terracottage · 25/11/2022 09:47

I'm not really happy though, I always look tired and grey, I use a face wash in the morning and then a micro fibre cookie thing with micellar water at night, also a light moisturiser with SPF and stronger SPF in summer, I have daily makeup which is ok just always feel really like I've made effort and look a bit rough.

What do you do with your hair? Nails? Eyelashes and eyebrows?

Ha ha! Prepare to laugh a lot - but I will say that my skin is very good for my age and it does get remarked upon. Not meant as a boast - but relevant to the question.

For decades I've washed my face with soap in lukewarm (never hot) water and rinsed it well. I then rub it dry with a coarse towel (love a rough towel, me) which I suppose, if I was being pretentious, I'd say helps with defoliating. Then I slap on Olay - just the pink stuff that's usually 5.99 in Tesco.

I don't linger in the sun and never sun-bathe. I drink plenty of water, eat fruit and veg and as much sleep as I can get.

I'm a total cynic about expensive skin care and moths fly out of my purse when I pay for my Olay and soap. I think these are the factors which affect the quality of your facial skin:

  • Genes - tough but true.
  • Diet and exercise
  • PROTECT FROM, OR KEEP OUT OF, THE SUN
  • Plenty of water and sleep

The secret isn't in an expensive little pot.

I tend to agree with @CulturePigeon

A good diet and avoiding the sun are much more important than any expensive products that you could put on your skin. And of course, having good genes really helps!

High retinal night. Vitamin C day. Acid every 4 days. Quality Serum when I can afford it. Litres of water and plenty of sleep.
