I have 4 key favourite Christmas films, in this order:

Scrooged
Home Alone
Muppet Christmas Carol
Die Hard

My Christmas is incomplete without these 😂

Runnerduck34 · 23/11/2022 23:00

Arthur Christmas- obviously!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 23/11/2022 23:01

National Lampoons and The Box of Delights (series) it is for me. 'A Christmas Carol' is as corny as sin, but that too.

The Sound of Music and the Wizard of Oz are not Christmas films, but were on TV so often during my childhood that I feel they are.

I loved the new adaptations of His Dark Materials, the two previous seasons of which aired in the run-up to Christmas. Still awaiting the third and final season, but no release date as yet for the UK even though it airs on from 5 December on HBO. BAH! I'm on tenterhooks.

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/11/2022 23:02

Muppet Christmas Carol all the way!

Its our tradition that we watch it on Xmas Eve, all the kids (and now son in law!) get together at mine and we watch it. Its the reason I prefer Xmas Eve to Xmas Day. DD messaged earlier that our local cinema has a showing on Xmas eve but I pointed out that the adults drinking their bodyweight in Baileys and us all singing very loudly may be frowned upon! Also, they may object to us taking in several massive pizzas !

Bunnyfuller · 23/11/2022 23:03

Elf, Grinch, Polar Express

Snipples · 23/11/2022 23:04

I'm watching The Holiday right now. Love Jack Black in it and the movie writer next door neighbour. I do find Cameron Diaz very wooden though but good knitwear so I'll let her off.

Always watch Home Alone but the songs are better in Home Alone 2.

Father Ted Christmas Special.

"It's the biggest lingerie department in Ireland I believe!"

I bloody love Father Ted.

The Lingerie department and the Eurovision episodes are my two faves 🤣🤣

Haven’t seen Muppets Christmas Carol in years! Is it suitable for a six year old do you think?

Yes yes YES !!!!! Mine loved it from when she first watched it ( well, maybe when she was coming up 2 - the first year she was a bit shellshocked by everything I think 🤣)

we also love Father Christmas and “another bloomin’ Christmas” gets sung a LOT

Westendbuoys · 23/11/2022 23:09

I love any of those terrible cheesy made for TV Christmas films. An afternoon spent watching those with a few cups of tea and a tub of quality street is an afternoon well spent.

Love the muppet Christmas carol and I always watch the snowman on Christmas Eve (and cry obviously!)

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 23/11/2022 23:09

maras3 · 24/11/2022 00:21

Life of Brian 😆

Ponoka7 · 24/11/2022 01:47

Muppets Christmas Carol, Christmas with the Kranks, Four Christmases, Scrooged, Fred Claus, Santa clause 1 & 2, Jingle all the way. I've already watched Home alone 1&2. One year I left it late and didn't fit all of the films in and I really disappointed myself.

Ponoka7 · 24/11/2022 01:48

And Father Christmas, although it's now tinged with sadness.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 24/11/2022 01:49

Bad Santa 🎅

mycatisannoying · 24/11/2022 07:24

Love Actually

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 24/11/2022 10:06

I agree with Mistygreenandblue about the Box of Delights. Best ever!

We also have to watch Nativity 2: Danger in the Manager and Muppets without fail. DH can't go a year without Die Hard. No one will watch the snowman with me anymore SadApparently they are too grown up.
