How cold is your kids' school

Just had an email from my kid's school about their energy bill and having to keep costs down. My kid alongside others and the teachers have already been complaining about the cold. Our school's bill has gone up by 50k and they cant bridge it. Is there a petition going, a demo, anyone writing to their MP. This is obviously ridiculous but will anyone put pressure on government to give schools and other institutions additional money for heating

I reckon they’ll fund my dds schools with the ridiculous amount of dress up days I’m forced to pay for. Our house looks like a bloody pantomime dressing room for most of the year.

🤣

I'm sure the primary school is getting a backhander from Amazon. Every new dress up day is like a parade of Prime top picks.

Must be warm as I have to tell DD every day that it’s not suitable weather for taking her jumper off.

Blocked · 22/11/2022 19:21

Not sure, but he comes out with his jumper off so it can't be that bad. I do send him with a vest on under his t shirt though.

MrsBCooper · 22/11/2022 19:23

Sweltering in ours! I have to dress for summer and am frequently sweating!

OrangePomander · 22/11/2022 19:23

According to youngest dc it’s far too hot. Jumpers are rarely worn.

FancyFanny · 22/11/2022 19:25

I don't think kids are a good barometer of whether it's hot or cold- ours are all going outside to play in t-shirts still despite it only being 5 degrees and drizzling.

Maybe it's just our school then. In this case, the teachers complained but so did the kids.

Ours is a hell of a lot warmer now than it was when we had to have every single door and window open for covid/airflow!

TheHauntedPencilCase · 22/11/2022 19:54

We are at primary and its not cold but a decision will need to be made soon about turning it off because the cost is unsustainable and we really can't lose any more staff. I know some local schools are already looking at redundancy for staff but I honestly don't know how they will manage, we need every single one of our staff members. Sorry slightly off track but something that keeps me awake at night!
