Reported for deletion. If I’ve the energy later I might try again, or post on a more usable forum 🤣

Just over 10% in January, 3 months notice was given it would be increasing.

We have just had the same. Already crippling us before the rise 😩

The fees have gone up by 8% but because our quarterly bill exceed the tax free threshold it's actually going up 9.5%. It'd be great if they could increase the quarterly government contribution cap of £500. But unlikely anyone has noticed that.

Skinnermarink · 22/11/2022 06:49

Yes @Daffodil77 that’s our issue too. It’s a real hit in the wallet due to the cap.

The government do not give a flying fuck about working parents.

I expect it will go up again soon, minimum wage going up, utilities and food etc too. I'm bracing for another rise in April.

Skinnermarink · 22/11/2022 06:54

Yes, our nursery states rising costs including staffing costs but I’m not convinced floor staff will see a rise. And energy costs to heat through the winter obviously a big one. I’m just not sure how we are going to deal with it, I already work for practically nothing once everything goes out for mortgage/utilities/food/travel/nursery bill.

I winced when I saw in the budget that minimum wage will be going up-not because it shouldn’t, but because of the impact it would have on places like private nurseries. Their staff wages will have to go up, so either prices will be going up again for parents or the businesses will just fold.

KingJeremyTheWickedd · 22/11/2022 07:08

Our childminder has increased her cost per hour by 50p. It’s made a massive difference to us as a family and this coupled with the increase of food and energy prices means that we will probably stick to our one child and not have another.

Rudolphscarrot · 22/11/2022 07:11

It went up £5 a day in April. I imagine it will go up again though. Ugh.

Hangingtrousers · 22/11/2022 07:16

Just been told £6 a day rise to 91 a day... 😭

Skinnermarink · 22/11/2022 07:17

Yep, sealed our decision to just stick to one child here, too.

11% for school breakfast club.

If you don't already and you're eligible make sure you're using the government childcare tax free scheme.
