DS just bought brand new shoes on Vinted...after one hour of walking outside, the rubber soles have disintegrated....the company is hotter.com...british made footwear....a search reveals many unhappy customers with the same issues...soles have just collapsed after one or two uses...!!...vinted seller refuses to refund...shoes were brand new in box....i know item not purchased direct from the manufacturer.....chances of refund...??

Could they be fake?

Could they be fake?

we did think that but checking the review sites, this is a common complaint...people have posted pics with identical failure of the rubber soles etc....

If they’ve been bought for a while but not worn this often happens and not just with hotter

Fuwari · 19/11/2022 15:43

If the seller sent them new as described, they did their job. It’s unfortunate but you’ve now googled and seen it’s a common issue. So next time research what you want to buy and you can avoid these scenarios. I don’t see this as being the sellers fault, it’s a shame your DS has lost money but as I say, do the research next time. I’ve made these kind of mistakes in the past and I accept I should have been more thorough.

Seller is not at fault its unfortunate but next time unless its a known brand (I've never heard of hotter) maybe best to do the review searches before rather than after buying them. My DS got burned buying fake Stone Island clothes once off a reputable but unknown website. Its shit but once they have learned the lesson they never forget it.

jane1956 · 19/11/2022 16:36

yes bought a "new" pair from a charity shop, first walk in them they collapsed, and like you on googling the hotter ones are prone to it if not used for a while. It was the name that drew me to buy them in the first place. Once bitten twice shy though. Won't buy hotter again.

Hotter is a well-known brand.

Could u complain to hotter saying they are a gift if they are still in the box?

according to reviews, they dont care and ignore emails etc...now squashed the box up..!!...i think we move on and check next time before buying a brand we do not know well....!

You could claim they’re not fit for purpose, which is a valid reason for return.

[This is from the CAB:
You’ll have legal rights if the item you bought is:
broken or damaged ('not of satisfactory quality')
unusable (‘not fit for purpose’)
not what was advertised or doesn’t match the seller’s description
You won’t have any legal rights if either:
it was damaged by wear and tear, an accident or misuse
you knew about the fault before you bought the item]

If you paid via credit card, you could also discuss/take it up with them. I’ve never bought from Vinted, but I know eBay will step in if a seller and buyer can’t come to a resolution (and often side with the buyer); do Vinted have anything similar?
