AIBU to say he should give me his scratchcard winnings?

This is a lighthearted tounge-in-check debate and DP and I are just messing around with each other

Yesterday, DP filled up my car with fuel and I gave him my card to pay for it.

When he got home from work, he told me that he won £10 on a scratchcard, he then told me he bought the scratchcard with my card at the garage when he paid for my fuel.

We went to the supermarket to cash the scratchcard in - he’s saying the winnings are his, but I think it’s mine as he bought it on my card without my knowledge.

Who do the winnings belong to?

YABU - winnings are his
YANBU - winnings are mine

His winnings but he owes you the cost of the card back!

The CF has just informed me the scratchcard was £5!! He went bold because he knew it wasn’t his money - I now feel this is reasonable grounds to LTB!?

Oh well then it's all your winnings as he owes you fiver then most here get here is two pounds fifty minus anything else he added into your card ie if he bought himself coffee or something else
Don't give him your card again that's a bit cf to add on items in your card Confused

moofolk · 19/11/2022 11:27

Use the winnings to get your ducks in a row and LTB.

FreakyFrie · 19/11/2022 11:28

It’s a tenner, not £100.
Does it really matter.

You have to split the winnings.

You have provided the financing of the joint scratch card enterprise, but he did all the admin and provided his expertise.

Only fair to split.

At most its an equal share of the profit as he already spent fiver of OPs money to purchase ticket

He is a cf Grin to even ask for a share given he used her card without asking to purchase scratch cards and not cheap one either

GG1986 · 19/11/2022 11:29

Both! Spend it on something both of you can enjoy, some chocs or wine etc.

dudsville · 19/11/2022 11:30

I'm going to say BOTH. £5 to him for using his initiative and £5 as the owner of the car and card.

Send him this and tell him you need the ten pounds as hush money.

This was the story that popped into my head, thieves didnt get the money, nor did the guy whose card paid for it

He owes you £7.50

£5 for the ticket 50% of the rest of the winnings.

There is a cost of living crisis don’t you know!!

You paid for the petrol. Does he use your car as well or do you have an aversion to putting petrol into the car? He used your card for a purchase you hadn't agreed on so he needs to pay you back the cost of the scratchcard.

Of course I do, it’s the only thing people bang on about.

It’s still a tenner. Not worth arguing about.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 19/11/2022 11:40

Can I go with option c - shared!?

notacooldad · 19/11/2022 11:41

I'd say it's a split!
Without your money he wouldnt have bought the ticket. If he hadnt bought the ticket he wouldnt have won!

BeKindToYourMind · 19/11/2022 11:44

Greysanatomyfan · 19/11/2022 11:05

Are things really bad at the moment where you’re squabbling over a tenner?

Fucking hell 😂

In your situation OP, I'd say the tenner is mine. However, I'd be happy to use it towards a takeaway and he can pay the difference, then everyone benefits 😁

Ponesta · 19/11/2022 11:46

It's yours. Fill your boots!

Mumdiva99 · 19/11/2022 11:48

Ltb for wasting money on the scratch card in the first place....and make sure he gives you £15......£5 to repay the cost of the card plus the £10 winnings. (Mone of this £7.50 nonsense some 'reasonable' people are suggesting.

Then report him for fraudulently using your card.......to fill up your car...... I can see the police taking that very seriously.

I was going to say this! Or buy something together like some food to share.

gamerchick · 19/11/2022 11:52

I know it's lighthearted but he owes you the fiver back.

Jesus Christ. Talk about dramatic 😂😂😂

WineAndDontDine · 19/11/2022 11:52

He wasn't gambling with his own money! Yours 100%!

Blossomtoes · 19/11/2022 11:53

Buy a bottle of wine with it and share it. Job done.

Well, half-fill your boots.

ScarierThanBoo · 19/11/2022 11:53

I love that every poster is missing the real issue here. Op, will you buy a pool or a pony?

biggerbetterfasterstronger · 19/11/2022 11:54

I believe the correct response is

”it’s family money”

Mischance · 19/11/2022 11:58

Share it. You deserve a share because it was bought with your card; and he deserves a share for being a sensible astute human being who believes he can make money on a scratchcard Smile - and having the nerve to spend £5 of your money!!
