Gynaecology

AIBU for not wanting to go on the pill without any further investigation for gynaecological issues? I was given antibiotics and a smear test that was clear but extremely painful. I'm hoping to conceive so the pill isn't appropriate but it's the only solution available.

I have awful pain around my ovary that's making me so nauseous and keeping me awake. Should I be able to see someone for this, what should I be asking for? If it's probably a cyst from PCOS AIBU to consider seeing someone in a private hospital for something I just need to get on with?

I'm swollen, can't have any PIV due to pain, months of bleeding from places I shouldn't be, lots of pain in my back and uterus before my period (and during v.heavy periods which leave me bedbound, exhausted, breathless and faint). Now this nauseating pain is reducing me to tears.

I would absolutely insist on further investigation! It took me years of battles to get an investigative laparoscopy to eventually be diagnosed with endometriosis, I literally badgered the doctor constantly and ended up been right (I was initially told that 24 was too young for endometriosis 🤨) I'm so sorry that you're going through this but stay strong and stand your ground

YANBU.

The problem with a private referral is the costs. While the first appointment might not be too expensive the tests and investigations will be. If you can afford to do all that then I would say go private.

But if you can't go back to your GP and insist on a referral to gynaecology. TBH the wait lists though are huge and you may find you need to go on the pill to ensure you can function till that point.

I guarantee if you went private though they would investigate more (I say this as someone with private health insurance, similar symptoms (including wanting to get pregnant so not wanting to go on the pill). I was having a laparoscopy 4 weeks later (it would have been sooner but I had a big work comittment) and had lots of deposits of endometriosis removed.

Hello I suspect I have endometriosis I’ve had problems for years and been suffering with the symptoms but haven’t officially been diagnosed as fell pregnant etc. well I’ve had the baby and the symptoms are back with a vengeance just wanted to know if anyone sufferers with breathlessness durning their period. I don’t think it’s iron related as I’ve had those checked before when I felt like this, it’s horrible and so scary just got no energy feel really weak and unwell then I’m feeling breathless just walking around the house.
