To ask if there's an affordable on-line homeschooling option

My child hates school. They thrived during lockdown when they were homeschooling. I would love to sign them up for online schooling but the one I have my eye on is £4500 a year which I simply can't afford. Is there a cheaper alternative? I don't think traditional homeschooling would work as I wouldn't feel confident managing a child's education so I'd want someone else to manage it. Can anyone make any suggestions? We're in the UK.

You'll probably get more answers if you post on the home ed board. I think if you spend some time with other home ed parents, your confidence is likely to increase. Home education rarely looks like school at home. It is easier than you think.

How old is your child?

Oh I didn't realise there was a home ed board, thanks.x

We home educate using an online school, but depending on the age/the time you have, it isn’t necessary. There are plenty of other options and loads and loads of tutors and groups online that are really reasonable! Facebook is the place to go as there are great pages with endless recommendations.

Thanks so much, I'll have a look on FB.x

Hi OP. Home Educating Mum here.
I can't afford online tuition either.
When I first started I relied heavily on online subscriptions and apps as a cheaper alternative. Things like Reading Eggs (learning to read), Night Zookeeper (Creative Writing and Spag) and IXL (Maths exercises) and Oak Academy (recorded lessons on all sorts of school subjects).
Could this sort of thing be an option for you?
As PP have said, you gain confidence as you go so you may find your reliance on paid resources lessens over time.
I'd definitely recommend making contact with other Home Ed parents. There's a very large Facebook group called Home Education for Everyone (HEFA). That might be a good starting point.
