Really worried now. Mould and babies

So the news article today of 2 Yr old toddler dying due to black mould on their flat has got me worried.

We live by the see in an old house. The house is mostly mould free except for 2 patches on walls facing external front in my bedroom and front room.

Not loads more like light black water spots.

Bought some ronseal spray today to tackle. Does anyone know if this is safe to use with babies around? I have a 2 Yr old and 10 month old. Obviously wouldn't use it while they were in the room but would probably let them in an hr later?

I feel so guilty after reading today's article that I haven't addressed or wiped down sooner but there is just so much to do.

Anyone else used ronseal or suffer with this? Any advice would be great

It would say on the packaging if its hazardous. You can use a bleach solution for smallish areas indoors - you need to ventilate well for a few hours.

Vinegar actually kills mould pretty well. We have one bathroom that is badly afflicted and once a month or so I spray all the mould with white wine vinegar, leave it for an hour and then wipe it off. It takes no time and I just have an old spray bottle filled with vinegar in the bathroom so it's very easy to do.

Try not to get yourself too worried about this - if you look at the pictures of the flats that poor boy lived in, they were completely unfit for human habitation. But I would deal with the mould in your home as it's obviously not ideal.

I would also use vinegar as it's non toxic. I live in a similar property and really worry too. So far we use a kärcher on the windows in winter, we have a dehumidifier, open windows when it's dry enough outside, wipe down with vinegar/water solution where needed, and try to avoid any fabric in problem areas. Would love any more tips.

You need to treat the cause or the mould will return around the sealed part

Try not to worry too much keep on top of it

the news reports on this are vague and vari from the mould causing it to the mould an additional factor to other conditions
