Got the option through work to have the flu jab this year, early 40s, sounds silly but just don’t want big side effects! Are most people getting it this year?

I've never had side effects with the flu jab. Have you had flu? I've had flu twice I never want to go through that again. The millennium flu is the one I'll never forget. Doctor prescribed me over the phone as so many folks were ill and couldn't get appointments or down to the surgery. I coughed so much I put my back out so that was added fun.

I've not had covid so can't compare but with the risk off flu or covid this winter I'd have the flu jab

For me it's worth the risk but everyone is different.

I think you should base your decision to have the flu jab on you specifically and your health OP not what anyone else thinks or experiences. Are you generally in good health, are you a healthy weight, do you have any underlying health problems like autoimmune disease, asthma etc? If so it might be a wise idea to have it.

However, if you are fighting fit the chances of you getting very ill from flu are slim so maybe you don't need it.

Just for context my OH has it every year because he had underlying health conditions and he swears by it. He feels a little rough for a week or so afterwards but then is okay. I however have never had a flu jab and unless something changes I don't intend to until I reach retirement age because having had flu a couple of times I'm just not that worried about it.

Yes, get it. I'm in my 40's and pay for a flu jab every year. I just don't have time for illness.

I never get side effects from jabs. Only typhoid many years ago which appears to be a nasty one.
